I'm sure the Sendspace fairy can be put into action (once I get home this evening).

I think it's Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians. That's how I would describe that piece anyway.

Here's a clipp: http://youtube.com/watch?v=CHVMVDhC-UA

Could also be Drumming, and (a lot less likely) Tehillim, which clearly has a text. Come to think of it, I bet it's Drumming. Not because the people are singing ba-da-ba-da-ba-da all the time, but because that work has so thoroughly entered our collective consciousness.

Edit: it has instruments. They all do. But lots of memorable ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-ba-da-

...or pretty much anything with vocals in it by the Pat Metheny group, come to think of it.. he does a very canny almost-linguistic vocalise that sounds like something half-heard and quite specific syllabically.

Huh, I can't find the bit of Atlas I wanted to post (for some reason it's not on the ECM release, but I was sure I had it somewhere else). Here's another little bit from that opera, called 'Other Worlds Revealed'.

If it was a clip from a longer work, it might even be Stockhausen's STIMMUNG?

Yes, I think it was  Cheesy

I had a feeling it might be Smiley   Did you hear it this evening? Cheesy    I had a gig of my own, but hope to catch up with the Prom on the iPlayer tomorrow over a mid-morning breakfast Smiley

I missed the first 10-15 minutes, but really really enjoyed what I did hear of Stimmung.  Will have to listen to the early prom another time (alas too busy the next three days - mustn't forget).

Yes I heard it this evening and I really enjoyed it... for the first few minutes.

After that I developed a bit of a headache and started wishing it would just finish  Undecided

I liked the sound, but I do think it ran a bit longer than it really needed to.

At the risk of saying something utterly clicheed,  I think it's a piece best enjoyed in a live performance.   The first time I heard it was SingCircle's performance with Greg Rose, and it completely changed the way I thought about Stockhausen's music having seen and heard it "live".   I guess I rather have this kind of astounding live performance in mind during the other discussion (with Strina, Richard et al) in the MINOTAUR thread.
