Not as 'Oliver', though, I suspect. Wink
Astonishing, Holmes!

The curious should be able to work it out through careful examination of some recent posts in the 'Look what I've bought' thread... Wink

Curious, as ever, I set off to search the "Look what I've bought' thread, only to be distracted by Oliver's comments about the sealed envelopes in the great Anima Eterna set of the Beethoven Symphonies. I usually avoid CD sets with fiddly cardboard envelopes, but I had to make an exception for this, having been impressed by the extracts played on CD Review. My solution was to dump the envelopes and use the CD cases left over from unwanted discs given away by a monthly magazine. (Not Gramophone, where I still subscribe to the mag without CD.)

Now I'm back to my search. Mozart Trios fit in somewhere!  OS must be a viola player!

Hm. Didn't know I was a viola player although I must admit I've never tried!

Descombes, if you look a little further down that thread you'll see many references to a concert I played in London not long ago and Mr Google should do the rest.

(But mum's the word, eh?)

Well, I checked the thread, then checked the list of reviewers over at the IRR website. Still clueless ... but impressed by the number of learned types who write for the publication (I'm a fan of Calum MacDonald's BBC Music Magazine reviews). So I've ordered a sample copy. I might even subscribe - we'll see.

Clues all in place, thanks!

My tongue-in-cheek reference to violas was a result of careless reading of the "Look at what I've bought" thread. I got the clarinet reference, then misread Kagel as Kegelstaat. Having worked out OS's identity, I thought I'd be perverse and suggest he might be the viola part of the Trio.

Seriously, IRR is wonderful. I'm always emailing Maire Taylor to tell her so. All the reviewers (with one notable exception!) are such perceptive writers; my credit card suffers after every issue comes out.

It's the one title I've been meaning to check out for about two years, but I've just never got around to it.

Oh, and if you'd like to clue in a hopeless soul by way of a PM, he'd be most grateful (and discreet). Wink
