I think that Elliott Carter also went through a very flat period
Can't say I've ever noticed that; when do you suppose that this may have occurred? Just curious! Best, Alistair

I don't know about Tantris, but I think it was the 80s (I'm pretty sure I've already said this in more detail in the Carter thread). LIAJREWBJB FJSDHFKJGSGFDS! KJB!!!!!!!!! By the way. D flat minor? Don't dis' it until you've tried it! From his book of modulations, that being an example of a modulation from D flat minor to B major. Takes all sorts, eh? Which makes the chord under F# into some kind of French third I guess?
Enharmonically it's neapolitan with respect to DbMinor...but...maybe best seen as part of some transitional key? Unless you mean the second chord...in which case I'd probably go with the same answer F I S C H
I'd stick to vegetarian if I were you; looks like you've got digestion issues at the moment.

Then may I respectfully and politely urge you to try abit harder, Richard? After all, "this tonal music" isn't all tricksy stuff about French, Neapolitan, German, etc. sixths (and it would probably be a might too complicated for me if it were). In any case, you're almost certainly one of a very select few here who would recognise a Welsh sixth from a hundred - er - steps... Best, Alistair
