Sock away, Member Martle.

We're off to Paris now so you can have the sandpit to yourself for a few days.  Smiley

Really chaps, it's a shame there isn't a statistic rating the quality of posts isn't it?  Grin Perhaps Member Grew should devise a seven-point system...

One stat which appears to have slipped by unnoticed yesterday is that the total number of posts for this month is comfortably the highest of the year so far. Also, the number of page views is at its highest ever at over 500,000. And all with another day to go!

Will do.

Ooo look, there's wireless internet in 1st class on the Thalys... stand by for another flurry of below-average posts.

(Not really. At least I hope not.)

Looking at the Forum statistics it says most online was March with 192!   Huh  192 people wouldn't fit in to that little space at the bottom of the page, who are these people?

Alas a fair few of them were probably spambots, Antheil...  Sad

(Meanwhile I'm waffling at 300km/h. One small step for a Member, one giant leap for, er, well, nothing in particular really.)

Ooo look, there's wireless internet in 1st class on the Thalys...

But I don't suppose there is room to move your elbows.  Thalys from Brussels to Cologne, admittedly second class, was the most crowded part of our journey to Cyprus, last year, apart possibly from the dolmus to Nicosia from the coast.

Given it was meant to be an international state of the art train it was 'orrible.

It was about quarter of an hour late leaving Cologne, as there were too few doors to admit the total capacity of passengers in time.  Give me a Romanian sleeper train any night.

I'm with you as far as second class goes, DB - it can be an absolute shocker. Full of school groups or little old German ladies with specially sharpened elbows or suspicious-looking Belgian businesspersons. And there simply isn't enough luggage space. My better half once had a prolonged lecture from a Hausfrau on why it was intolerably dangerous for her to stow her cello in the luggage rack above the seats. She did it anyway of course.

On the other hand quite often there are some cheap 1st-class tickets going after the cheap 2nd-class ones have all gone and then I treat myself to a bit of luxury. (Indeed they're sometimes cheaper than the cheapest available 2nd-class ones, although this one was a little bit more.) There's now 'free' wireless internet in 1st class and the meals are a nice bonus as well. And at the moment I'm in a 'solo' seat. Window and aisle simultaneously for those who can't make up their mind. Like me.

I wonder if there's any way to rank people by number of average posts. I suspect Richard B (in his second incarnation) and BBM, and perhaps also CD/TF, would be much more visible in such a listing ...

Trying to work out what you mean by 'average posts' here...
Hmmm ... you may have point there, O King.

Average number of posts (per day)? Grin After all, some recent posts have been distinctly below-average and we wouldn't want to exclude those from any count, would we now? ... Wink

Wasn't sure if you got there from this trail, but you can get a full listing of most posts in order.  Members, and then click on Posts.

Sorry I can't help with the average.

Got there in the end, thanks, birthday boy.

What happened to martle, anyway?!? Ollie said "I'm off to Paris, you can have the kingdom to yourself", martle said "Thanks Oz, enjoy the trip", and then martle disappeared (and Ollie stayed around!) ... Huh

What did you do, Ollie? Undecided

I'm as confused as you are, tinners. I didn't expect the wireless internet on the train yesterday to be included in the ticket, for one thing. But as for where martle got to, well, search me.

Er, no, on second thoughts don't search me because you won't find anything of relevance, promise...
