Umm £40 approx isn't really so bad for 3CDs plus DVD is it?
It kind of is if you've never heard more than a couple of minutes of the music and don't know whether you're going to like it at all, unless your disposable income is greater than mine!

Which is more or less as much as I've heard of any one piece - I found a web site where there were samples of each track on the three CD set (possibly this one, but I can't get through to it at the moment).

I'm genuinely surprised that there is interest in Lilburn's electro-acoustic output; he is after all a fairly obscure composer, and his late work is thought of by most of those who know of him as a byway amongst his output. Is he considered an important figure by enthusiasts for electro-acoustic music?

I'm relying on vague memory here, but I came across Lilburn's name in an article in The Wire a couple of years ago (it may even have been a review of the complete elec-ac recordings now I think about t). Certainly he interested the writer on that occasion, and made me think I should probably investigate at some point (although I haven't yet  Embarrassed).

I don't know if "important figure" is quite the expression, but I got the feeling he was being rediscovered by some.

I suppose what I meant was that it's no more than one would frequently have to pay for a similar number of items.  I take the point that it's still a considerable amount to take a punt on something you don' really know.
