As far as you are concerned, tp, penalties and expulsion are certainly out of the question. Here's something else you probably know.

No, I don't think I know octet. I can tell that deep in my heart I want to play Schubert Forele sextet. (Quartet plus the piano plus double bass).
I don't have much hope to play it. First of all there is no quartet here that will play anything with me and there is no double bass.

My second wish is to play Brahms piano quintet. I have as much chance to play it as I have with Schubert.
My third wish is to play Schumann piano quintet. That goes the same way the other two are.

Now you know all there is to know about me. There are this three wishes and not much chance to play it. But I am still hoping.

How about you?

Given a quintet to learn I'd go for Ornstein's. It would take me a year or several ! Schubert, Schumann + Brahms is really not me . . .

I have to google Ornstein. He sounds like contemporary composer.
I like to play something contemporary too just for fun.
I did not think they write now for piano quintet. At one point I thought they stopped writing for piano all together. But now I think there is hope again.

I like to play together. It is less stressful than solo performance, but some people like to play solo more than an ensemble.

I forgot that we have a good violinist (a principal) from that orchestra here (when he is not working).
He is really good and he is nice.

If you go to this site, t-p, you'll find you can download many of Ornstein's scores for free.

This is so interesting Ian. I never knew about him.
I just heard Suicide in the airplane and I think it is very good. What is a point to want to play in an emsemble when there are so many good solo pieces and some are not too difficult.

I have two - three more advanced students that love modern music. I have to go through scores one by one and find out less difficult pieces. Then I have to print them and after I have to try them.
The other possibilty is to give it to a student to try and then after I will learn the text with him I can play myself. The student was busy with his exams at the university, but said he wanted to come for his lessons now. His technique is not good, but he is so enthusiastic and he loves music passionately.
I was actually looking for a piece for him.
That would be perfect. Now I can sleep well. I am happy.
Thank you Ian. I wish you safe journey home.

Mathematics is not important and it is logic that counts.
