The trouble started apparently with disaffection in the Navy.

I'm sure they were scrupulously tidy and methodical peasants, Mr S, with all implements neatly labelled and hanging on the correct hooks in the evening.

Yes, how do you get one of those parental notes excusing you from joining in wars? Why can't we have one?

And you can bet your bottom thaler that every corpse and hacked-off limb was swept-up PDQ. They probably even had an inspector of battle-fields to ensure that everything was left spick and span afterwards.
