I was left at the station with a persistent yet, in the larger scheme of things, completely unimportant question: what had the key signature got to do with anything? I stared at the score for hours before it started to rain and I realised that I really was going to have to get on that train. On the train, I attempted to cudgel my brain with coffee, but as that didn't work I drank it instead. As the countryside darkened as night pulled in, and the rain set in, the lights in the carriage flickered annoyingly. I had a feeling that I was going to get a migraine at this rate. It was one of those evenings. Every toiled on the train was either overflowing or locked, the buffet car was shut and Sunderland had lost. I sighed and shut my eyes. Maybe I could get some sleep.

Boring framed by exciting - does that make a Boring sandwich, or and exciting Croque Monsieur?

John, it's got to be Liszt's hand, on the Red Sea. It's taken me all day to track that one down! And the smell? Anchovies. I claim my £10!

If someone suitably skilled were to remove the bone, would it then become a Tromfillet?

If an instrument should be catastrophically damaged, can it be repaired with a Tromsplint?

Since a trombonist is someone who plays the trombone, can I assume that someone who makes trombones is a tromboner?

One last question: can anyone verify that when Fergus Tromb, inventor of the paperclip, designed his groundbreaking stationery, he deliberately modelled it on his favourite instrument?

Embarrassed I shall now resume my rightful position in Naughty Corner and think very carefully about what it means to be a trombonehead.

P.S.

Oh Lord! Enlighten me, for great is my ignorance.

A quick Google and I find that "Tromba" is Portuguese for "yacht, or small pleasure-craft". Hence, "Tromba Marina". Evidently I have much to learn.

Personally I prefer a `dry` cure to that of a `wet` cure, but this does seem to provoke strong opinions in people. I try not to make anything of it now. Life`s too short.

Kittybriton, where do you get all these ideas? I know from your mind, but they are quite incredible.
