Nonsense, Richard. You're forgetting about Charlie Drake's My Boomerang Won't Come Back and, continuing the antipodean theme Tie Me Kangaroo Down by the great Rolf Harris.
In testifying to the "greatness" of Sir Rolf Harris, you omit the ", sport" from "Tie me Kangaroo Down...", this seems to me rather like yet more carelessness, if I may make so bold as to say so...
Not at all. I was merely emulating, as so often, the example of Winston Churchill, who, when asked how he had managed to live to such a ripe old age, is said to have replied: "No sport."
So often, indeed - but there I was, labouring under the delusion that he'd managed to survive into his nineties by virtue of ample supplies of fine cognac; ah, well, it just goes - like so very much else - to reveal the sheer extent of my ignorance, does it not?!...

Best,

Alistair

Notwithstanding, a box jellyfish to them all, I'd say...
The box jellyfish Chiropsalmus has a rather fascinating visual system, consisting of four of these organs, one on each side of the cuboidal body:

... each of which has eight eyes, ranging from simple light-sensitive pits to large sophisticated eyes with lens, retina and cornea, although it's rather mysterious how the information from the latter can be processes since the animal lacks a central nervous system.

Yes, but it's still not as deadly as Conus marmoreus

A psalm-singing chiropractor of a box jellyfish, indeed; how fascinating! If the appreciation of its existence teaches any of us anything, it is perhaps the inappropriateness of arguing the toss with a geneticist for fear of being stung by one of the more venomously dangerous Australian varieties of this oddest of creatures...

Wasn't that a Russian composer after he'd lost his marbles?

It's scary but true that if you sneeze while driving at 70 mph on the motorway, you can travel up to 100 yards with your eyes closed, according to the AA, so always have tissues handy and slow down and drop back if you feel a sneeze coming on.

There's good news too though, Milly: the worldwide population of Dawkinsius richardianus is apparently down to one, and it can't even breed, although it's trying its best.

I hope anyone reading this will be comforted to know that if you make the effort to sneeze while keeping your eyes open (yes, it can be done) your eyes won't pop out of your head. The Mythbusters show not only consulted an ophthalmologist, but also performed experiments.

I wonder if Michael Ball has a pond.
Probably; wasn't the Ball's Pond Road named after it? Anyway, assuming you refer here to the vocalising rather than the composing Michael Ball (see the Prom 58 thread), might I ask if your wonderment here has any connection with weed and pond life? (see your own post on yet another thread from last weekend)...

Anyway, please have your tickets ready for inspection and/or collection.

Ah, well, done! You got there first! (and I didn't see your post before sending mine). Not that Michael can row the boat ashore there, though...

'of course', said miss marple wearily, 'the answer lies at bainbridge house, and it is there, i fear, we will also find many more questions'.
'well I'M not f*cking going', said her great niece, tanya.
