Embarrassingly, I realise that I have not only seen extremepumpkins.com before, but I've linked to it before. The shame. It's really rather late now (or early) and I've got the doctor tomorrow to tell me that nothing was discovered in my blood test so I am heading off to my bed.

Flemish is to all intents and purposes identical to Dutch, as far as I understand, and it's differently named for political rather than linguistic reasons.
So I suppose it's 'Dank u wel'.
The Slovenian for "thank you" seems to be a clearing of the throat, to which the reply is "Prosim". The first example of a polite response to "thank you" I knew was the Italian "prego", which is a different word for the usual terms for "please", rather a nice distincition, I always thought. The German response to Danke is Bitte, and I noticed German waitresses replying to me thanking them by saying "Excuse me". This translates "Bitte" but sounds very odd in English. More usually they said Please - being aware I could not speak German.

I see it's time to say goodnight, although where I've just arrived it seems to be 8 o'clock in the morning. I would love to go to sleep now. But unfortunately experience dictates that I have to try to stay awake as long as possible otherwise I'll wake up this afternoon and be awake all night. Anyway, good night to all in the northern hemisphere. I'm going off now to wander around like a zombie for a few hours.

G'day Richard! Watch out for Sydney Grew! Good night all. So much for my early night. I did go to bed but then got up to make lists of things to do, buy, phone, order, tomorrow. As soon as I laid down, lists of stuff kept racing through my mind so I thought I'd better jot them down because I'd be bound to forget otherwise. So I'm really going this time.

So. A pre-emptive good night from me. Got up at 6am in Budapest. Rehearsed at 12 in Köln. Just arriving in Paris where we'll be in a flat at the Pompidou Centre.
All in a day's work.

It's that time again. I'm really running around like a demented weasel at the moment, my diary is absolutely black. Next week is hardly any better; today I got a call to ask me to play the Celeste part in Kindertotenlieder - RCM SO / Norrington. At least I have reason to feel happy . *yawn* Sleep eeezzeee. particularly the Mods.

My mind is going like the clappers after 3 1/2 hours of bridge. I've just whizzed through the crossword too and I'm trying to unwind. Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ( in lotus position of course) Good night folks.

That's one of the reasons I love having a cell phone. It has a voice memo feature which I can dictate notes to before falling asleep.
