Quand même : hourrah !

Another stab at 211 - Henri Vieuxtemps' Viola Sonata?

I am afraid to say, No

I'll go for the Robert Fuchs viola sonata just for the heck of it.

Er, No

Thanks IGI.  211 is somewhere between the nationalities you have already mentioned......

Tommo

Well, at least that rules out American and Russian works! Could 211 be Honegger's Viola Sonata?

No,

213 is Rachmaninov's Cinq Morceaux de fantasie: 1. Elégie in E flat minor.

At last I can be the Man from Del Monte.......

YES!

Award yourself some points, IGI

A clue for puzzle 214: I am informed that it contains the highest note yet written in an orchestral horn part. Despite not being by Haydn.
Another clue: it's from the third movement of a (four-movement) symphony.

I reckon that rules out Mozart, but what about his dad? Is it from Leopold Mozart's 'Peasant Wedding' Symphony?

Then another clue: it is, however, from a member of another distinguished musical family.

Another three for you to try.

Puzzle 227 - call it 230

Puzzle 228 - call it 231

Puzzle 229

The last one will is hardly mainstream repertoire, I think.

229 has something of the Mosolov Iron Foundry about it...

Tony's 227 (as opposed to Baz's!) is Kabalevsky's Prologue to The Comedians.

From reply 1436

Puzzle 228 - call it 231

Puzzle 229

I thought 229 would be the hardest. Perhaps it is mainstream after all. Yes, Mr Sudden, you're right - it's otherwise known by its Russian name of Zavod.

And, Mr Inquisitor, you're right too for 227 (now 230). Was there already a 227? I did try to check!

Perhaps 228 will hold out a little longer.

Edit - I've tried to give them new numbers to avoid confusion. Things move so fast it's hard to keep up.
