Just to say we were listening to Composer of the Week, and the other half was falling about at Senorita Nina from Agentina.  He hadn't heard it before.  I think it is pretty glorious.

The ties that bind

Rob Cowan was playing a song from The Buena Vista Social Club this morning. Not bad I thought; except it couldve waited for The World Routes programme or something like that. I am surprised that brass bands dont venture into this territory very much. Be quite a good style for them as well.

Yesterday ie 1/5 Rob Cowan played: U2 - Pride in the name of love by the Soweto Gospel Choir. Wasn't totally convinced by it, I must say. I saw U2 live in Brum in 1981 - they've become a bit better known since then Grin

BBM did you hear on Wednesday morning:

Simpson: Volcano - Symphonic Study for brass band
The Desford Colliery Caterpillar Band
James Watson (conductor)

I've got the Hyperion CD of Robert Simpson's music for brass (CDA 66449) - great stuff, I'm a fan of RS's music.
