Thanks David-Underdown. I will have to do it, I am just postponding. I will have to deal with them trees when roasted chicken will bite me (as my grandma used to say). Or was it a roasted rooster that was suppose to bite me.

I am happy because we played with French horn and it sounded really good. We have bassoon, piano, flute and horn. We had music by Brod who I never heard before. It sounded like early Chopin (there was polonaise section). I really loved this combination. If we only can find clarinet player we can do Rimsky-Korsakov quintet.

Have you now got the music for the Rimsky-Korsakov quintet t-p ? I remember you saying you would send for it when it was mentioned on the now spinning thread. Good luck in finding a clarinet player.

But if you're listening to Radio 3 while in your rural idyll, Lord Byron, you won't be able to hear the birds singing.

ahh, birds chirping while classical music plays or between INIT

Yes, BobbyZ, I got Rimsky-Korsakov music for about $40. However, we don't have clarinet player for the time being. French horn player is very good and others are good too. The pianist is good of course.
I read it a little and it seems to be a cracker of a piece. I wish I could hear it.

Did you like it?

Yes t-p. As I mentioned on the earlier thread, the flute part in the first movement sounded very latin influenced to me and IGI confirmed that Rimsky had sailed to Brazil I think it was while in the navy.

If I every actually play the piece I would be really happy. For now the piano score in yellow colour with parts are there waiting its moment. I am hoping to play Beethoven flute trio for the moment and also Brod quartet for bassoon, flute, horn and piano. I bet noone even heard of Brod.

Henri Brod was born in Paris in 1799 and died in 1839. At the age of 12 he became a pupil at the Paris Conservatoire where he was taught by the Professor of Oboe, Auguste-Gustave Vogt. henri Brod soon joined his teacher in the oboe section of the Opera Orchestra. Opinion vary as to the merits of his playing. He soon turned his attention to the development of the cor anglais.
The quatuor as it is called is very pleasant piece, I like it.

While we're on the subject of South America, here's a nice place to be....

..it's not a room, and it's serene rather than happy, but just looking at it again makes me feel content.

I'm happy!  I had a quick look round the garden before going to work, and my tulips are looking great!  Especially the variety called 'Claudia'.  Also, my ajugas have flower spikes about 9 inches tall of an amazing blue.

I'm pretty happy too! 'Nice' work to do today (as opposed to the usual cruddy stuff), and a civilised evening to look forward to with deeply pleasant people.  Wink

Tommo, you really need to see a doctor about that.  Cheesy

In direct contravention of Martle's dictum, since I'm worried that my other favourite 20th century S is being pushed into the shadows by Dmitri and Arnold, I'm offering a visual impression of his first ballet:

I think I'm happy now, but I've been very grumpy all morning while the plumbers were here. However, I now have a very posh new sink in the utility room - as if I cared. Still, it had to be done. Sometimes I wish I lived in a modern house that worked.

I am happy though, because very soon I'll be free of Plumber Bob and Plumber Craig. Funny the things that seem like happiness.

Cheesy:D:D  Actually, I think he really needs to give me something for my limp fritilaria.
