Handed my notice in at work last week, so I can now go and join my wife in London! I'm looking forward to being able to sample some contemporary non-pop music live, at last. (Not much of that here oop Noorth - Huddersfield excepted, of course, which I  managed not to go to at all! Admittedly due to me not being interested enough til quite recently)

I envy you going to London.  Everything I love is there and so much of it to choose from.  I'm still thinking of buying a flat there - but I've been thinking about it for years and never done it so whether I'll ever get around to it I don't know.  I would love to spend every weekend there and school holidays.....hmmm....maybe.

Not much going on today - lunch with one of my sons and a friend of mine and then I'm off to give a pint of blood and hopefully then a short rest before the school run which is later today at 5.30.

Lovely weather here and no reason not to be happy at all!  Grin

Milly, if you do this thing, stick to the outer boroughs or Herts if you can, meantime of course you could always find a 'friend with a floor' (upon which to place a 4-poster of course). The thing I find in London is that getting about can be very unpredictable, and arriving in reasonable shape at an event a bit of a challenge as a consequence.
Female friends agree, notwithstanding the resourcefulnesses of the handbag.

Thanks marble.  I have a lot of friends in and around London who would put me up whilst I have a look round - but I'd rather have my own place to go to and in fact even though I have many invitations, when I go to London I usually stay in a hotel.  Thing is, if I stay with one and not the others it's caused offence in the past so a hotel seems to be the most tactful option usually. I used to be in London every month for years - but the last 18 months have been exceptionally busy for me so I haven't been able to make it.  We shall have to see what transpires.

Hotels are often amazingly central as well, good for nights out while having a pad far far away can involve tagging on a long journey after the concert, friends with a spare room in zone 1 are rather like gold dust, rare and pricey to maintain Sad

Does gold dust actually require maintenance?

gets worn away by the wind, often seems to find a way out of the safe...

Another training walk for the trek today, this time around Strathmore, particularly Glamis Castle. Wonderful colours...
