I love Thunderbirds.  I love the meticulous '60s design, I love the ridiculous plots and machines, I love their terrible faux-American accents - and I love the fact that an entire generation over here grew up thinking they were actually American.

Oh, sorry.   Wink

Another thing I always enjoy are the close-ups where they use real hands, but the actors move very stiffly to give the impression that they're still the puppets.

There were some Oz comedians some years back who did a good line in Thunderbirds impressions. At least it seemed funny at the time. Especially the enormous glasses.

Confession time: I didn't realise they weren't American. In mitigation I would hope my relatively callow age at the time of the offence might be taken into account.

At least they made the English characters true to life.

Do you mean these people, Mr S? If so they made it to London's glittering West End. Confession time: I didn't realise they were Ozzies.  Cheesy

The ones I saw as a callow youth but not quite so callow as I was when I saw the real thing were these chaps in fact:

I suppose every generation has its own Thunderbirds parody Wink and this is hardly the best of them but it's the only one I saw in my early teens and they didn't have YouTube then... (The walk's not bad, you'd have to admit.)

Lady DHS, have a click on 'quote' to see how to shrink big photos - have a look at what I've added in the first [ img ] tag of each.

And welcome, by the way.  Smiley
