Stokowski conducted the American premiere of Mahler's "Symphony of a Thousand" (Symphony #8) in 1916. He had managed to steal in and watch Mahler rehearse the world premiere and attended it, too. The resulting performances, in New York as well as Philadelphia, put Stokowski on the cover of Time magazine for the first of two times in Stokowski's life. In this photo are the soloists of the performance. The only Mikoyan I know is this one. They were building planes during the WWII.
I don't know much about him. He is on the right.

Tupolev is the first on the left. I never saw him before now. He desingned airplanes TU 104 (This was the first plane I took a flight in).
