Stokowski conducted the American premiere of Mahler's "Symphony of a Thousand" (Symphony #8) in 1916. He had managed to steal in and watch Mahler rehearse the world premiere and attended it, too. The resulting performances, in New York as well as Philadelphia, put Stokowski on the cover of Time magazine for the first of two times in Stokowski's life. In this photo are the soloists of the performance. From left to right: Margaret Keys, Susan Dream, Inner Barber, Clearance Whitehall, Leopold Stokowski, Alexander van Rensslaer (President of the Philadelphia Orchestra Association) Florence Tinkle, Reined Werrenrath, Adelaide Fischer, and Lambert Murphy.

Don Pedro from his shirt has washed the fleas
The bull's horns ought to dry it like a bone
Old corned-beef's rusty armour spreads disease
That suede ferments is not at all well known
To one sweet hour of bliss my memory clings
Signalling gauchos very rarely shave
An icicle of frozen marrow pings
As sleeping-bags the silent landscape pave
Staunch pilgrims longest journeys can't depress
What things we did we went the whold darned hog
And played their mountain croquet jungle chess
Southern baroque's seductive dialogue
Suits lisping Spanish tongues for whom say some
For Europe's glory while Fate's harpies strum

"Let a thousand flowers" bloom is a common misquotation of Chairman Mao Zedong's "Let a hundred flowers bloom; let a hundred schools of thought contend". This slogan was used during the period of approximately six weeks in the summer of 1957 when the Chinese intelligentsia were invited to criticize the political system then obtaining in Communist China.

No, I'm not a complete idiot. I'm only a halfwit. In fact I'm actually a catfish.

The only Mikoyan I know is this one. They were building planes during the WWII.
I don't know much about him. He is on the right.

Tupolev is the first on the left. I never saw him before now. He desingned airplanes TU 104 (This was the first plane I took a flight in).
