If you ask me I rather be Rafael type of woman with forms, than a skinny undernourish neurotic type. But it is personal preference.
I am red hair this time. What about you?

I am intrigued by your 'under the bed' waffling... it must be a high one to fit you, a computer and presumably a clarinet or two to while away the times between waffling. Grin Shocked
It is indeed, A. I need a ladder to get to it. Smiley

It depends how many instruments I have at home (sometimes I leave them at work) but there can be as many as 7 clarinets, a saxophone, a chalumeau and I forget how many recorders under it. And a desk and a computer and a CD player and a printer and an Ollie.

Sounds very cosy ollie.

Perhaps we could have the next party under your bed, I think we would get to know each other better!!

Don't know if there's quite room for a waffle party along with all of that gear but I'm willing to give it a bash!

I suppose you need the ladder for playing the contrabass chalumeau too? Wink

(I was once at a Musica Reservata concert back in the 80s, and the player of the Contrabass Shawm had to stand on a stepladder to play it.  Sadly the sound of this mighty-looking monster was completely disappointing,  like a bassoonist trapped in a wardrobe.)

No, no, no, you lean the instrument over and support the top end on a stand! I've seen the Musica Fiata chap playing one in some Buxtehude. Didn't sound at all bad.

The thing about the chalumeau is that like a clarinet it sounds an octave lower than a flute or recorder of the same length would. So the soprano chalumeau with lowest note F above middle C is the length of a sopranino recorder, more or less (lowest note an octave higher). Similarly the 'basson di chalumeau' is actually surprisingly small.

(What a shame!)

That's all very well ladies but it means some of us poor chaps are very nervous of revolving doors.

Does symmetry matter?
