Oooh look!! This has lured a whole lot of adverts for cheap bathroom 'suites' (in cerise and magnolia), lavs, bidets, bathroom tiles etc. That's cheered me up a bit  Cheesy

(Well, no, they've gone now. You have to be quick.)

Hmmm. Also reminded me once again that I really must do something about the towel rail that my son managed to wrench off the wall last time he was here. Love him as I do he has an unerring habit of finding the bits of the house that are what antiquarian booksellers would call 'slightly nervous'.

Don't worry, George, the baths are back. Although 'bathroom pod' sounds a bit spooky and 2001ish to me.

How is grumpy room doing today? I would rather be taking bath in one of these bath suites (not suits) than play the Horowitz sonatina, but today is the day.
My posts were removed form the board and I don't want to post there anymore.
How my fellows grumpy ranters doing, old and young?

No grumps for me yet, but as I am going to work it won't be long....

Ha ha ha.  Actually, a lovely bright crisp day, so 3 should be on the happy board.

Anyone know what it was about originally?

stv North, formerly Grampian, has presenters who still take themselves very seriously, as if they're clinging on to the traditions of the past or perhaps as yet unaware of the debased standards Down South. Heck, they still sit down to read the news, though the Glasgow presenters (=debased Down South, of course) stand at dinky little podia and are rather more effortfully chummy. We still get local adverts too, which are very reminiscent of those seen in Cinemas in my youth: "....After your evening's entertainment, why not enjoy a curry at Inverkipper's only foreign restaurant? (Credit Cards Accepted.) For bookings please call Strathkipper 267..."  With a rather reddish-brown still of a very seventies-looking family, Bri-nylon shirts and all, sitting round a table with a background of that once ubiquitous pucey-purple flock wallpaper. The voice-over in this case, of course, is not done by the proprietor (unlike those for local garages, carpet warehouses and car-dealers) but by a velvet-brown translatlantic-accented semi-pro, one of whose inflections should really have been re-taken but wasn't, and stands out like a sore nodule on every audition.....

Ron , it sounds as if stv North could convert me to parochial telly! Bring on Pearl & Dean.

It looks like the Depression Room has been taken off - perhaps it's as well.  It was getting really depressing and that was largely my fault.  I do apologise.

Happy day today to you all

What are you appologizing for Milly? It should be depression room. It can never be too depressing as far as I am concern. It is temporarily less dark in there, I think.

John W was surprised it had gone.  My only thought is that Rob G (who started the thread) removed it.

I suspect it was all getting a but much!  Actually, I was in the same boat as Tony W, feeling like I wish I knew how to help, but knowing that as I haven't experienced depression that would be hard.

But not a very depressing thread really - on the whole the posts did always discuss what you could do, rather than wallowing in self-pity, and there were many wise words.

I did worry, though, about the amateur therapy that might occur, and the impact of any trite comments.  So, perhaps another medium needs to be found for the discussion?

Best wishes to all

Very kind of you.  Especially to want to help.  Of course in those situations there is nothing anyone can do to help and I for one didn't expect that, nor did I post for that purpose.  I was just reacting to Jan's post which I'm afraid "got to me".  I didn't do it as a form of therapy either, I was just responding to something she said.

There is a time and a place for discussions of that nature and this forum is not the place of course.

I did not realize that the thread is gone. I liked it. Musicians and classical music lovers are especially sensitive people and it is so lonely and hard to go through things on ones own. I am not affraid of a bad advice or bad comment. One can be upset if one dissagree with another member about some aspect of music too.
I thought the thread  gave us a sense of community and what people go through. Sometimes I think that it is only me that have a hard side of the stick and I don't appreciate what other people go through. Also some comments and support that people gave to each other was very touching. One may think that people don't care, but they do.

I am not afraid of depressing things anymore. I found that in America people are afraid even to talk about anything mildly depressing. Depression is part of life and should not be pushed under the carpet.
