Sitting in front of my computer instead of sitting at Edgbaston watching Warwickshire vs Durham because it's raining  Embarrassed

No play so far today and prospects of play later are not good. The BBC do a live commentary from all the Warks games and someone has just come on to say that it's raining more heavily there now  Embarrassed

Mary C, you are going to be an expert at that avatar thing. I know nothing about it. Bryn helped me with mine. I hope my avatar will not decide to change on by its own will.
In case it will change I don't think I will know what to do and will be with no avatar (which is ok too).

I know nothing about it either, t-p. My useful son told me how to do it (when I phone him he's apt to say "IT Helpdesk" when he sees it's me), and then I wrote it down in garbled fashion in my old-fashioned notebook, which is full of instructions for doing things on computers.

My technical knowledge is limited to "Press a few buttons and see if it works".

This is how I started. I wrote it on all sorts of papers and then I would lose them, find them again etc.
However, now I am better at some things than my husband. Our friend who bought computer for us can not believe how fast I learnt.
May be he is flattering me, but I am very happy that I have a computer in a first place. It is in my home and I can come to it whenever I want to.
There is so much information at my finger tips without going to the library or any other place.

I think you will become an expert.

I've just had to put my avatar right again.

I have my aardvark avatar on the web space which comes free with my ISP and just link to that image in my profile - I've never had any problems with it.

Where's your original image? On your computer? You could upload it to the r3 photobucket - or even set up your own photobucket account, it's quite a useful place to upload images to I find.

It's a repeat of yesterday for me as far as the Warks v Durham match is concerned - no play at all yesterday due to rain and no play so far today.

The umpires are going to inspect the pitch at 1pm so we might get some play later on - at least it's not raining here any more.

I like to play baloons if I can find it, but my grump is that I have to go and teach.

And I am tired today. But students are nice, so I should last (hope).
I like tennis and snooker.  Snooker is safe from rain and tennis is not.
So I know how Andy D feels. (At least I think I do).

However, they are often wrong with the weather broadcast. Could it be true this time?

Returned from Birmingham yesterday morning after a very mixed meeting in London on Thursday to discover that I had knocked the internal light of my car on when I parked it on Wednesday. Flat battery. Called the AA out who discovered that the battery wasn't just flat, it was dead. New battery. But I'm not grumpy! It happened and I (well vicariously) dealt with it. Rather glad that I didn't manage to find anyone with jump leads now - it would have only lasted me until I had driven home (at most) and I would still be stuck with buying a new battery today.
I suppose that's the thing about getting the train at 7:30am. By the time it gets to 9pm, you just don't have the energy to be grumpy. Not that I'm going to go to the trouble of researching that properly. Yesterday was a very long day and people who have days of that length on a regular basis have my infinite respect.

hh,
You support my claim that everything is for the best in this life. (Or am I mixing myself with somebody? Who said it?).
I don't like the sort of ordeal you describe. Please accept my congratulations upon acquisition of a new battery.
As about people who have long days I think doctors and nurses have my admirations. There shifts are so long. You don't want to ask me any questions if I had such a long shifts.

Sounds like Candide to me, T-P. One of the many things I may eventually read before I pop my clogs. Voltaire is such a refreshing writer (the little I know of his work).

eruanto,
I really should not be writing, but I just want to tell you, that during my time in college I was known to read a lot the day (and night) before the exam. Most of my friend did the same.
I think you are going to do all right on your exam.
But I really should not be talking to you. Sorry.
I think Kittybriton's picture is funny. I could only see it when I started to reply to you.
Good luck.
