I have a grump, or a comment really. I seem to be extremely good at stopping flourishing threads!
They chug along nicely , then I put a message on and they stop........ dead......

Does anyone else experience this?!!

Era solo un mio sospetto

Yes, A, I used to feel the same.  A nervous little bit of me inside thought "O dear, nobody wants to talk to me.  I'm the stranger at the party who has put my foot in it."  trained pianist (where is she nowadays) suggested I was coming late to threads and posting when interest had passed on.

It is a matter of confidence.  The anonymity of the boards makes it easier to talk than when at a party, but you do not get an instant reaction.

You seem a pretty bright and informed individual - just keep posting and see how it goes.

A, a good way to cheer yourself up would be to look back through old threads and see who 'killed' them. Quite a variety of people, including yours truly  Cheesy! It's just the way it goes!

My internet connection was down for two days. It is impossible to catch up on the unread posts since last visit, people keep posting new ones faster than I can read and life's too short but it becomes manically compulsive to try to clear them all out !

Went to Sainsbury's today and there's loads of Christmas stuff there already!

I've also had a more serious rant elsewhere.

My phone.

My phone my phone my phone, oh how you irritate me.

That I specifically mail-ordered you from a different country, so promising did you appear, is now something I am deeply, deeply ashamed of.

1: You turn on and off at will, owing to the fact that your on button is like any other.
2: This wouldn't be as bad if the lock button was something that was reliable, however it is also activated by holding down a single button.
3: You make a loud noise when you turn on.  There is no way of disabling this feature.  Not good for one's nerves when at concerts.
4: You can only display six characters on screen.
5: I cannot capitalize, nor can punctuate beyond commas, periods and question marks.
6: Your interface is generally quite irritating.
7: The clock resets itself about 50% of the time when I turn you off.
8: The alarm does not work when you phone are off.
9: The clock seems seems to be loosing one minute each day, even when left on.  I have no idea how.
10: Sometimes, even when I'm doing nothing, you just reset.

 Cry

I second your bah humbug A!

incre, that sounds so terrible that I really think you need to guide us into the mental space from which this brave machine appeared, as you put it, 'so promising'.

Specifically: what did it promise? How? And does it have any redeeming features?

I think threads, and ultimately groups, have a natural lifespan. You just have worse than average luck.
