Good point. But although people may not enjoy being grumpy, they sure as hell enjoy saying so on here  Cheesy

Well, I'm feeling a bit disenfranchised. Despite all the upheaval, the most prominent thread here is still the wretched "should political posts be here". Apart from that it's been very, very quiet. Music and Society has been busier without exactly buzzing ( this isn't a keeping score of the number of posts thing by the way ).

R3ok was the board where I felt most at home. I mainly lurked at the BBC boards because I disliked the trolls, the presenter baiting, the user unfriendliness of the software. I've registered and posted at Music and Society but however accomodating the new music guys try to be, I think inevitably it will end up being a forum with a pretty narrow focus and will feel like a clique even if it isn't really.

I hope a viable board can be maintained here but the lack of activity today doesn't bode well. Early days and all that, tomorrow is another day and other such banalities.

Bobbyz,

Yes I thought it was quiet for tea-time. Seems there were some unanswered questions for the owners to deal with..... if a line can be drawn soon then hopefully we'll be 'back in business' being Grumpy, Happy and sharing music, not too much to ask for  Undecided

I think it may be temporary, while everyone tries out the new board. When it was set up, we mostly thought this one had gone for ever. I like this one best, I think, but I do use the others. I agree very much with BobbyZ about the BBC board.

I used to feel 'comfy' on this board, I do hope it survives. It is a shame if everyone disappears because of a few who decided to go ....

I don't feel at all happy at the moment about all this, I didn't feel welcome on the other board either... all modern composers rabbiting on again... <yawn emoticon >

A - If you can stomach giving it another chance, I think the violin thread over there is developing into something you might enjoy.  At least I hope it is - I'd really value your input.  I've been grumping about double-stops (in Leclair, nothing that involves dismantling the violin), and could use some encouragement...   Smiley

If you'd rather post here, though, I'll keep an eye open.

Just to say I agree that this place isn't the same.  It is oddly quiet.

Hope it returns to its old self before too long.

Thought I'd brighten my profile up with a new avatar but I'm a bit boring so it's a tough job.  Sad Roll Eyes

I just trawled through images that I already had on the photobucket and chose <-- that one. Poor old Rubinstein looks like Alfred Hitchcock  Cheesy

Thanks to the people who have advised me on the 'avatar' business of things. Iwill do that in due course. At the moment I am in the throws of moving house, so see you people when I can at the moment.

I think they're all spoilt for choice and in a quandary about where the most loyalty should be.  I still don't know what should have occasioned such a mass exodus even though it's been explained to me.  A storm in a teacup.  Things just aren't the same anywhere any more.  Such a shame.
