Alas, it was only a peck on the cheek (while giving him his audience prezzie at the Last Night of the Proms in... er... 2005) but he's certainly very attractive up close.

I'm not sure why I'm still in the Grumpy room discussing this Cheesy

Oh yes, the only mildly grumpmaking thing was that a certain R3OK member's better half got to do the honours in 2006.  With Dmitri Hvorostovsky.  And I'm jealous cos not even Andreas Scholl is THAT gorgeous.

Feeling particularly bad today? Maybe this is the reason:

January is difficult month for me too, but not as difficult as September. Now I feel we are getting closer to Spring.
There is a new composer of the week on Radio 3 - D'Indy. I heard about him, but did not know his music. I am listening now on listen again.

We are so blessed on this board to have Ron Dough for company. Some times one has to rest between projects, to go for walks. And also to tell good things to oneself. Sunrise always comes after the darkest moment.

It's very kind of you to say so, t-p, but I rather think that it's the opposite way round!

B****r, now I really have got a rant. Andreas Scholl has postponed - doesn't say cancelled - his sold-out concert in Liverpool on Wednesday. I was praying he'd be better by then, but at least I had warning, thanks to this ever-useful site! It was to be exactly the same programme as in London.

Ho and bum - and bum again!  If this weather continues much longer I really will become convinced, maybe illogically, that I am becoming waterlogged.  I seem to detect that the Soundwave outer covering is becoming a little porous.  I've reached this conclusion following my discovery that I have no desire to add a little water to the Malt.  Is this, do you think because, subconciously, I am aware that my frame is a little more moist over the last month than heretofore?   I've never detected any porosity occasioned by taking baths or going swimming.  Could it be that our current downpours are of a different quality?  Has anybody here experienced feelings of becoming waterlogged or porous?  If so, your guidance would be appreciated.
Cheers
.p.s.  A neat Malt stands before me even now.

Ho - again!  I forgot to mention that I have never kissed Andreas Scholl.  I thought I'd better clear that up although I don't think it has anything to do with waterlogging or porosity.
Cheers

As of Thursday, I no longer qualify for a Young Person's Railcard.
My days of discounted rail fares are, for the moment, over.
 Cry
Instead of ranting I should be praising the system that allowed me to continue to hold a railcard for a few years over the age limit while I finished my PhD, but there's no pleasing some people.

My sympathies, HH - I didn't get to keep mine beyond age 26 (though I did make sure I bought my last one JUST before my 26th birthday, so as to have it for as long as possible Wink) but it was useful while it lasted.  Especially as in those days it used to be valid as a form of ID for concessions/standbys at ENO Grin

Then ENO revised their youth scheme and raised the general age limit to 30 anyway, which has also been good while it's lasted, but I'll be hitting the big three-oh just as the current season finishes Cry so I suppose I'd better just keep writing reviews and getting freebies!

They left out that...

... the maxed-out Christmas credit card statements have arrived,  there's 7" of dark grey frozen sludge blocking the roads and pavements,  the world economy is going into tailspin,  and there's a Europe-wide shortage of mozzarella because of the sanitary conditions around Naples.

Still, at least if my bank goes bankrupt, they will stop sending me credit card statements? Wink  Some hope...

A cautionary tale to accompany my grump.   Grin        Royal Mail have now jumped on the bandwagon for excessive charges by imposing an £8 'handling fee' for collecting a £4 71p VAT fee on two imported DVDs.

Of course, I should have used more acute tactics by instructing Amazon - America to send the two items separately, triggering a much smaller increase in their despatch handling costs,  thus avoiding the £18 ceiling on Customs charges, as well as negating the need for a Handling Charge.   Sad

That's very wise advice, Stanley: it's certainly worth staying under the Customs threshold where possible.

Many a time have I trod the path to the Zollamt in Porz to collect instruments or software or never mind what. And been charged duties on the postage as well as the actual item. Buglers.  Angry
