Eh? You're interacting plenty, rb. With a couple of exceptions, they just don't get it. I'd find it depressing/ sad, like Ron, if I hadn't decided to find it amusing instead. Not that that solves anything.

In this particular case the real problem does not lie exactly where some of the members complaining seem to think it does. We submit that it lies in the bogus use of the word "atonal." This is a word whose use Schoenberg - and he of all people was in a position to know - explicitly forbade, pointing out that it was utterly inapplicable to the case. He abominated the word as semantic nonsense, yet people all over the world one hundred years later persist in applying it! Mr Barrett for example uses it all the time. But that - the persistence - is the real problem: why do they do it? Perhaps we should venture over there and ask.

Cant stand rugby!

Ditto

But I do have a soft spot for anything that requires beefy young men to display their perfectly developed thighs.

(this is a classic after-dinner post.)

Quite agree Don B, those swarthy young thighs, can't get enough of them   ........ did I say Wales beat England btw?

Try not to take it to heart, Anna.{{{HUGS}}} I've just read that thread and I'm shocked that they've been allowed to post stuff like that. When I think of the completely inoffensive posts from serious posters the Mods used to object to... Angry

Saw that, A.  I suppose you could get them modded* - the one you quote would certainly be removed if you did - but I always think that's a counsel of despair.  It's best not to engage such cretins.  I think you can be confident that the idiotic ejaculations of this pair impress very few people.

I agree that the general quality of contributions has fallen drastically since the disastrous reformatting that caused this much superior forum to be created.  The later shamefaced backtracking hasn't, imo, restored the BBC board to its former glory.

*Oh, I see someone already has.

I seem to remember Rob G started a thread here saying how depressed he was, and then deleted the whole thing. So he's obviously got a lot of personal problems - tho that doesn't stop him being a wanker.

He has used it precisely three times since these boards were founded, actually.

He does like his Maxwell Davies though, which is something.

I've been over there and had a look.  Can't find anything you describe - which thread is it?  (Or maybe they've pulled it?)

This one in particular, Milly:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbradio3/F7497567?thread=5059383

But there's plenty more idiocy on the Performance' board, plus the great '(a)tonality' debate on Platform 3.

I paid a visit over there  earlier when I saw the comments here. What an unpleasant mess. Most of the posts have been modded but the ones that survive give a rough picture of what was going on.  TOP is rapidly approaching the level of offensive behaviour that the R2 MB exhibited. It`s really not nice to witness, which is why I rarely go there any more. It`s very sad. Well done Wodger Angry

Weekend at my Dad's place.  Feeling RATHER unsociable, and generally more adolescent than I have for a while.  I *almost* flipped out when offered porridge this morning, having hoped on cooking breakfast by myself, and am generally feeling mightily put-out by anything that might be called hospitality.

Hm. It's an idea, but I feel it might be construed in terms of my not being bothered to actually interact with people, which (it might be said) is part of the problem being complained about.
Ah, right.  Well I'm sure you'll forgive me if I don't go over there to analyze what's going on in more depth, examine primary sources, &c., there being some reading I'd like to get out of the way today.
