I don't buy into valentine's day, either.  Or into any occasion that involves the sending/receiving of cards.

Why people get so offended if they don't receive a card from you is beyond me.  Surely it's the way you behave toward the people in your life that matters.

I have got the most unromantic boyfriend on this planet.  No valentine arrived so I asked him on Messenger where it is and he said he'd go out to the shop to get one later.  I've told him not to bother.  If I hadn't asked, he wouldn't have bothered anyway.  I don't want anything as an afterthought.

After having had such a loving, romantic husband, it would be a miserable day for me now but I have a very large 2' high card from my husband (10 years old now) that I keep behind the piano during the year and bring it out on Valentine's Day. That more than suffices.  Smiley

:-(

i do hate it when men let women down like that.
cards are tokens, and some people appreciate them; some don't.
made cards are nice.
wow! through the magic of technology, i can post you pics of the card i made for my wife!

I do send cards, but totally understand the arguments of those who are against them - after all, the point of Valentine's Day is to show some thought about what's special about that person, whereas sending cards as one of the most unthinking, automatic, things to do. At least as far as most of the cards and offer are concerned.

I wish it were possible in this country to buy a fridge-freezers with a small fridge and large freezer.  That's what I would have, given the choice.

Ruth, I have separate units. As it happens, they're the same size, but you can buy a small fridge AND a larger freezer and stack them so that they don't take up any more room than would a fridge-freezer.

I think freezers are a con, i like to buy stuff fresh, tinned or for the fridge though have purchased an odd item from tesco 'special offer' freezer bit and then eaten them that evening.

The £1 spag bog was nice, earlier this week.

microwave rice, using the microwave at work. is good Smiley

I never thought to say this, but I think you're talking sense there, LB! Now letters would be all right, but I don't think anyone writes letters any more. Emails and texts are no good. Not on Valentine's day though - just too corny (or should that be cheesy? I'm not up to date in these expressions).

I'm a fan of psychic automatism myself, but I'm not sure if the sending of greeting cards is its best expression Wink

Ruth, I have a separate freezer unit as well. Infinitely better than the small box thingy in a fridge freezer. I got quite excited over the separate drawer compartments. I know, I`m a sad person Roll Eyes Roll Eyes but at least I know what`s what in the freezer now! Grin

I find people fill a freezer, then forget about it, as it takes some time to plan to thaw things out.

I like the 'er, fridge empty, cupboard empty... i need to shop' method

Shared a chinese take away with flatmate lastnight though, which is very naughty, as had tins of vegie soup available.

We have a nice chest freezer here Smiley

(I remember we used to have one of those 'freezer boxes' at the top of a tiny fridge a few years ago, that would essentially just fill up with ice (really: fill) and so, after several months of constant chipping away at it both to put things in and take things out, we admitted defeat :/

Watch The Red Violin.

Grumping this AM b/c when Grandma said she couldn't afford to have the drive snow-ploughed, I  checked with the kids and they said OK, we could share the work of shovelling. Himself spent 5 mins out there shovelling this morning to get the van out. I couldn't get back up the drive, so have now spent 45 mins shovelling and well ready for a breather.
