Not great, t-p, but the Janacek last night and the assembled company here (also a phone conversation last week)summons  some sunshine inside. Have a  great day yourself. Very intersting over the way to read about the Oslo visits and the youngsters they've inspired.

marbleflugel,

Please don't forget your lovely old fashion way of speaking English. It is so funny. I love it very much.
May be you are not in good humour now and this is why your typewriter went wrong.

I also find the story about Oslo PO very inspiring. It is strange how good can travel far, the same like bad.
When I came here I was so hurt, used and pushed around.
Now I am feeling much better. The world is not such a bad place after all.
I can see that this board is good for you too.

What happens, t-p, is that the keys k-i-8 stop working at random times.

Methinkes tis the machynatyones of the dongle of bangalore, vestygyal potentayte  of  the call centre of doome.

I agree with your feelings about seasons of good and bad, but this city is going through a lawless epoch right now
in  matters of greater concern than mine.

It is not very good everywhere. Even here it is not as good as it used to be.
We went for a walk not long ago and someone almost broke into the house. We came back and they run away, but they broke the back door window. We had to replace it.
Alsmost all houses in our estate were broken into. I know we are next, just don't know when.

My friend from Greece says the same thing about her country. She had people broke into her house. They lost lap top computer, had to replace that and felt awful.

It is dangerous here to go to certain places late at night.

May be you live in a bad area. Don't go anywhere late by yourself if you can help it.
I don't know how it is in the USA now, but when we lived there you could not go placed by yourself, especially at night in big cities.

I feel so much for you. I am afraid to go by myself.

What is strange it that people tell me they used to leave their doors open short time ago. We live in a small town (they say it is 80 000, but more with vicinities) and it is not always safe. It is not safe to go to town at night and young people are drank and disrespectful. I can say nothing that will surprise you much. Things are the same all over the world.
I was in Cavan last winter. It is a small place where my friend is from.
After our concert we went to a pub to talk (I am not much into dringking). I was glad there were people with me because the youngsters will call you oldie etc even if you are 35. I don't remember exactly, but they picked on someone from our group (fortunately not me). As there were a few teachers (different level of education) they talked to them, but I would be scared.

They are very spoiled here too. They say that this recession is going to be long. I don't like recession and wish it would not be long or hard. They have more than 10 years of growth and the new generation is not used to bad time.

My Greek friend's family just came back from their travel around the country and she said: What recession? It is much worse in Greece right now.

I don't know how I started on this subject, but it is good to express yourself.

Bother.
I wanted to go to hear a concert this afternoon but I forgot and now I've put my stock on to boil now and there's no way that I'm going to make it in time. Foolish.

You can stop with boiling and continue later (I think?).
May be you can still make it.
On the other hand it could be good to stay home.

I thought about it, but the concert's just starting now (I'd also forgotten how early it was - I thought it was starting at 3:30).
I've got to work on this horn piece anyway...

Horn piece sounds good to me.
We have an ok horn player here. I don't know where he is working. I know that it is not musical job.

He plays in the band and they say he is good.
We have a piano quartet written for us by my friend-composer. It is for piano, flute, bassoon and horn.
I think it is a good combination. Somehow it works. Sometimes horn is by himself (with the piano) sometimes he is fillling up some notes. It is a jolly happy piece. I don't think it would be for your taste. It is good for theater I think. It is very jolly piece with a jig at the end. (or is it a polka, I forgot) . Have to check. We were going to record it, but everyone is busy now.

My piece is made up of long sustained notes and isn't at all jolly. I'm hoping that's it's going to be as lovely as I imagine it, but because I'm experimenting with technique, I'm not entirely sure what's actually going to come out...
We're working on the sketches tomorrow so that will make all the difference to what is, at the moment, a skeleton of rhythm and pitch (with a little bit of phrasing thrown in for good measure). It's the first half of a bigger piece, with the second half being for horn quartet (I think).

It sounds good to me.
I think you can get good sounds from horn and I don't think they have experimented much with horns.

I heard many pieces for clarinet with different sounds (low sounds in bass clarinet).

May be they did not invite horn player here with new music.

Horn quartet sounds really good. They can make mellow sounds too. I love horn. They can sound almost like viola.

I love to hear the piece you are writing.
Horn can make lovely sustained notes. Can they slide notes? They can do kind of harmonics too I suppose.

It is so exciting to write a piece for horn (s). It sounds like atmospheric piece to me. I love that.

I don't know much of Tippett music.
I like to hear that one. Is it good?

I seems to remember that some people Tippett would be better with popular music. I am probably mixed up.

When I lived in Wales (Aberystwyth) I knew people who knew him. How it is possible I don't know.

Perhaps they had met him or something weird like that.
