Would that be the big Station Car Park at Reading, by any chance? If so, and it's still run by APCO, then I'd definitely take it up with them.

Wrong station, right B****ards

Been there, done that....

...did you get the T-shirt?

Seriously, what was the outcome?

It was a rather different issue, Tommo.

I was commuting whilst doing a show, and using the station six days a week, but because I was travelling off-peak, there was no point in my buying a rail season ticket, since off-peak day returns with a Network card worked out cheaper. At the start of the 20 month run, season tickets for the car park were available to all travellers, but when APOC took over, they refused me a car-park season because I didn't have a rail season. I pointed out that not only was I travelling as much as those on season tickets (if not more), but because I was returning well after the last bus had gone, my only other options were a taxi or a three mile walk every night. In the end they promised to consider it, but only if I were able to prove that I'd travelled regularly for the previous six months.

They'd probably not taken into consideration that since I count as Schedule D for tax purposes, I had every single ticket in my 'expenses' file.  Wink

They were grudging, but I was allowed car park seasons for the rest of the run.

Definitely take it up with them.  Once you can demonstrate that you were elsewhere they'll probably cave.

How did you call them to pay the charge?  If you used your mobile, the service provider will certainly have a record of the call.

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

Indeed.  They have a thing called 'Ringo'.  http://www.ringgo.co.uk/

In theory, the attendant should have checked with Ringo when he gave me a ticket at 12.10.  He woudl have seen that I had called about 10, or 15 minutes before.

 Angry Angry Angry Angry

I have learnt one thing from this.  I now know that whilst incompetence makes me angry, someone trying to pull a fast one on me makes me absolutely furious.

It is not good to feel angry for a long time. After a while nothing matters.
We all were in situations like that with different people trying or taking advantage of us.
I was in these situations many times.

I imagine most of us have been in that type of situation, tp, which is why we can empathise with Tommo's grump. No one likes being taken advantage of. Still, he certainly knew the right place to come for a good old therapeutic grump! Cheesy

I survived, but barely. There was no piano to practice because the pianist is the only one person who has the key. I had to sit and listen to them practicing. Then there was waiting until 11:15. The performance on electric piano with no pedal went as good as it could. In the middle the piano collapsed. The piano was put back. Everybody asked if I was hurt, but I was not. Then they sang the last song.
After that the parking lot saga. The entrance was closed and one had to know how to get inside through the lobby of a hotel.
Now I am home, tired, angry, tired and angry again.
The town full of people who have no care in the world and have a good time.
This is life, I know. This is how the cookie crumbles. I am tired of playing for people who don't listen and with people who don't practice.
But that is ok. After all tomorrow is another day.

Blessed are they that turn up to play when requested, though the piano is still travelling, for verily I say unto you, they shall have a reputation as a willing horse, and a patient one at that.

Blessed are they that give it their best shot on a piano that can't even stand up till the end of the performance, for it is the unforeseen accidents like collapsing pianos that make these things fun.

Blessed, yea, rather, blessed are they that can finally get home, recount the whole ghastly ordeal to Beloved and live to laugh about it someday. For they shall inherit a publishing contract when their memoirs are finally written, and with any luck the advance might pay the cost of psychiatric hospitalization.

Thank you, Kitty.
I don't know even you can make me feel better now. There is nothing can be done if the head is not smart. I have to think about Monday now.
The parking lot was a nightmare. I am not good in small places and my car is not small. I had to have automatic transmission because this is what I am used to after driving in America.
I don't know how I got out of that parking lot. I was afraid to death because I usually don't go on parking lots at 12 at night by myself.

There were so many people at that Ball. Women wear such a beautiful and different gowns. The crowd was more or less young. I am glad they let us perform before some comic. I think it was a dance Ball and they were going to dance after some paintings were auctioned.

Thank you, Mary  Chambers.
It is compaign of course. I think Mr. Speller gave me the wrong word and I did not notice.
I usually don't park there, but I could not park in my usual place because there was so many people in town.
The parking lot is open until 1 AM it said. But when I came back it was closed.
After panicing and thinking what I should do next I found out that they close this particular entrance, but there is another one.
Why would not they put a post about it somewhere?
I should not be grumbling anyhow or be critical. I am glad that I could help, but I wish the ball would be at a better time for me than that.  Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

The most difficult words are the words that are the same in both languages.
For example: season, campaign, lemon, wagon,  etc. There are many words like that.
I get confused with spelling them and their prononciation.
There is no hope for people like me.  Sad
