Difficult to make out with such a small picture on their website, but below Edward, there is a splash as Dan the bulldog hits the water! It's a fascinating painting...just to the left of the 'splash' you should be able to make out Basil Nevinson, an amateur cellist. They're all there, cunningly hidden in the Malvern landscape.

The music room...or the dead man's gallery as a friend calls it...

bust of Wagner, print of Wagner, framed prints of Schubert and Beethoven.

Large framed photographs of Shostakovitch ( walking in a Leningrad cemetary ), Schoenberg ( in stiff collar and tie, conducting), Mahler ( the famous seated picture at the Vienna Opera House), large signed photograph of RVW  ( Edwardian business suit ) and smaller one of RVW in very untidy old grandfather style

I also collect the superb quality metal composer plaques which you can often find in older shops in Vienna...so far I have nice art nouveau ones of Schubert, Beethoven, Wagner; a very plain (possibly Nazi - era) one of Bruckner, and a lovely Bruckner memoral medallion from Linz.

My partner calls these the burial collection : she intends to auction them to pay for my funeral when the grand time comes ! I suspect I will need quite a few more major autographs to cover rising costs however..

Don't you find that autographs fade when exposed to light? I made this mistake with a signed photo of Britten and Pears.

Yes Mary, you have to be very careful with the framing, and especially with the positioning of the pictures etc. The autographed RVW ( the only photo with a signature) is on the dark side of the room, out of direct window light and not above any heating source or cold air from external door.

The framed music autographs are double- framed : protection & also so you can see the letter in full from both sides : this means they can be handled and read for auction without opening the frames.

Some signatures are just not made to last..I had a nice photo of Tippett  but the inky pen he used was just too wet for the photo surface, it smeared badly and he then obviously blotted it..it looks fragile and likely to disappear any day.

One of my friends has a personal autograph and quote from Heldenleben, actually addressed to her as she met him once in Dresden....now *that* one makes me a little jealous !!

I haven't got any busts (well, you know what I mean!), but if I could find a cheap reproduction of this Ehrlich bronze I would buy it.

We've got a painting which is based on the impressions of an artist with synaethesia of (I think) The dance interludes from bernstein's On the Town.
