A recent favourite is this BBC interview with Stockhausen. Karlheinz's reaction to the opening, inane, question is a joy; the interviewer's casual bandying around of terms like 'degenerate music'  Shocked less amusing...

Thanks for posting this Tim.
How do people like this get those kind of jobs?  Huh
That use of 'degenerate music' shows a complete and total lack of comprehension of the historical background.
I love the bit where Stockhausen tells him to stop being such a drama queen!
He does come across as being quite old now (I know he is, but the last time I saw him, he seemed more energetic) but I suppose that could have been because of the timing of the interview (probably after a performance or rehearsal).
I also love that bit in the rehearsal when he stops them and writes the little bit of improvisation into the score.
Is that a part of Klang, or is it part of his fixed score for Refrain?

It's probably an urban myth but on a radio phone in, someone said how much he had enjoyed listening to Mozart's "I'm inclined to knock music".
