Thursday 1 November

Duke's Hall, Royal Academy of Music

Sibelius: Karelia Suite

Sibelius: Finlandia

Segerstam: Symphony No 173

Royal Academy of Music Concert Orchestra
Conductor: Leif Segerstam

For all those who have loved Segerstam's other 172 symphonies, a concert not to be missed.

I've only heard the 16th (a relative toddler of a work) and it's nice enough. But I do like the idea of Segerstam very much - a composer relentlessly churning these things out at around one a month. It's such a crazy phenomenon I can't help being attracted to it.
