I remember Sydney Grew as Esme Muchgoddery ...
Gosh yes! Those were the days weren't they? Do you remember Io the girl with horns and Effortless gentleman? I think Radio 3 has a lot to answer for in having crucified its previous message board!

BTW John W - I meant to ask...

The size is too small for certainty of identification, but is your latest avatar a picture of Stravinsky, or is it one of the late Sydney Grew?

A strathspey can have an inherent positive aesthetic in the right context. When I am in the Highlands, the strathspey and its related dance forms seem to provide a more than satisfactory musical aesthetic which complements the landscape, in addition to the Western classical music canon which is the the usual music of my preference.

Stravinsky. It was featured in another thread a while back. In normal size you can see the old fella is having a laugh with the photographer.  Grin

I believe there's a Grew photo in the Chin-Chinny-Chin thread  Roll Eyes

So, who was/is Mumblesford then, if not Grew?

...as we all know only too well after a heavy New-Year's-Eve tippling when it comes to singing Auld Lang Syne.

Gosh - I must look that one up. Every time I enter "Sydney Grew" into the Google Images search engine, it only throws up endless images of Sydney, and the captions tell us how much and how quickly Sydney "grew".

I remember in the 'other place' when he was Mumbles or whatever,
That'll likely upset Richard Barrett...

Regarding a photographic recording of Sydney Grew, the best I can find is by image Googling using "Sydney Grew" and "Bach" as search criteria:

I have not the faintest idea; I was referring to the Mumbles in terms of its location in a certain area of south west Wales that I imagine to be not unknown to Richard...
