Now I really should also have mentioned this chap.

Born in Brighton which isn't really local to Camberwell, which could form an excuse of sorts, but he did spend some time in Hawthorn I believe - at least I certainly did see a plaque with his name on in the pavement there once upon a time although I forget exactly why it (or I) was there.

Thanks to Sydney Grew for pointing out this omission.

I think the male composer is CHH Parry, so that would be Bournemouth.

The only composer I've ever lived near,a far as I know,  was John Ansell ,best known for his overture 'Plymouth Hoe' ,who lived at the bottom of our road in Marlow...

Just been informed that there's a living composer of some standing born (1943) in my neck of the woods, Coventry UK. Brian Ferneyhough.

Ferneyhough wiki

I'm not as excited about Ferneyhough as I was about Capel Bond (who died in Coventry).

OK Ferneyhough is still alive, but his music does nothing for me. I've just listened to three pieces one for piccolo, one for clarinet (and ensemble) and another for 'soprano' and ensemble. There is actually nothing I can add, I've listened to them, words fail me  Cheesy
