Well, maybe not! But it does get rather fewer productions than Janáček's other great operas.

Whilst browsing through DG's last catalogue, I was amazed at the amount of crossover material. This DVD and the imminent release of Bělohlávek's Brouček have restored at least a little of my faith in the company. Wink

opilec, I don't know if you know (or could even confirm?) the anecdote about Mackerras recording one of the Janáček operas and the producer arriving late at the session because he'd been recording some Puccini with Pavarotti (or something of the sort).

Hahaha! That's a good one (and quite possibly true)! Though Mackerras is probably one of the least deserving targets of such a comment! Cheesy
