Where would you get fish and chips in the environs of the Wigmore Hall? Shouldn't you be offering her, I don't know, tapas or something?

If anyone can do it it's our Lord B. I suspect he's looking at playing the 'thrill of the unknown' card. Underestimate him at your peril.

I've been thinking about this a bit now LB and I think I've come up with a fantastic idea! Why not offer the fish and chips to her on a plate!

High-level pampering I know, but it's class like this that'll make you stand out from the crowd.

Oh, Lord B knows exactly what he's doing. Trust me. I understand women. You look into their big soulful eyes, clank a bucket of wet mackerel, and they'll follow you to the ends of the earth.

By the way, any thoughts on the Prokofiev anyone Smiley?  Not exactly the most refined of performances but I really enjoyed it. Both she and the NOW gave it real welly as they say on the Choral Evensong threads. Good hearty galumphing stuff in the outer movements which didn't do it any harm at all and only coming off at the sharp bends once or twice.

(Actually that's sea lions, isn't it. Scrub all that about the mackerel. It's sea lions whose needs I understand, not women.)

GG,

Although there's "no more custard" at least you have a wife who can balance a ball on her nose.

And give you a couple of choruses of Lillibulero on motor horns, Tommo, if there's the prospect of a fish supper afterwards.

Who? George, his wife, or Lilly Bolero?

I'll be frank (and daniel) with you Tommo, all the seals I've been out with were RUBBISH on the motor horns.

Don't you feel just the teeniest twinge of jealousy that George has virtually got that at his beck and call round the clock, all for the price of a haddock?

A quite unforgettable sight was watching the stylish actress Ambrosine Philpotts eating fish and chips from a newspaper during late night location filming in the early 1970s.   She always looked exquisite and couldn't understand why we were all having hysterics watching her.

If you ever saw, "Room at the Top" (1959) Ambrosine played the mother of Heather Sears and always had a glazed expression when referring to the lower orders as "these people".
