Can I just say that that the C major which opens "Behold my spacious kingdom" is one of the greatest sounds of the 20th century.

I hope you don't mind me in that case saying what a wonderful job Bartók did of subverting that magical outpouring by putting everything in parallel major triads. Smiley Don't know if he intended it but to me that's always suggested a sly comment on Bluebeard's ostentation there - as though there's not much substance behind the splendour.

...or indeed the splendour of when he brings the chords back in parallel minor triads, in the brass  Shocked
