How do you pronounce lute - loot or lewt? I'm not sure of that one.

Ooh now then. I'd be interested in that one - I've always said loot and lootenist but I shall be all agog as I await your opinion. BTW did you know that Emma Kirkby's husband is a lootenist?

The derivation of lute is from arabic, El' ud - the european name for the instrument is a corruption which dates back to the Crusades, when lutes were first brought back from the Middle East (along with a "version" of the name). So I suppose it doesn't really matter whether it rhymes with "newt" or "boot"

I'm just wondering Reiner, were you born this mind numbingly boring or did you just pick it up along the way?

My God Milly! did you use an abbreiviated term? BTW! I never thought I would have the pleasure of seeing someone with a vocabulary as extensive as yours using a slang term such as BTW. It is safe to say I am astonished!

I am aghast at the thought!!

fact that Mozart , along with many other classical composers, was thought of as unacceptable to the established music buffs of the time That's odd, because Mozart was universally popular with other composers in Vienna at the time. Perhaps you have been hoodwinked by the popular myth that Salieri disliked Mozart's music? The actual "fact" is that Mozart invited Salieri to his performances and was delighted to see him cheering in the audience. I wonder if you have confused Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with some other Mozart? Mozart was a composer. Michael Ball is a singer. However they are both musicians.

I think a lump of cheddar cheese would be 100 times more interesting to talk to that you Reiner. At least it wouldn't put me to sleep. Also, thank you for your very immature comment about me being compared to a mythical creature. Ta ta now

Since someone is nevertheless posting here I can only presume that they themselves were too boring for the cheese to put up with it any longer...
