"By familiar fields, Martian sand..."

Am I the only one who has to do a quick mental readjust when Grimes sings this line?

I've never been struck by that Ollie, though I have a feeling you've just opened up the possibility of a new thread....

(Though in the Decca recording I always hear

"...Popular feeling's rising.
Balstrode I'd like you to come...."

as

"...Popular feeling's rising.
That's good: I'd like you to come...."

Which puts a slightly different (and more sinister) gloss on it all.....)

We are writing an opera as we go alone. We use music of many composers and all musical periods. The plot combines comedy and tragedy, but it will have a happy end.
And lesbian marsupials? there have to be lesbian marsupials.
Kitty, you're not trying to suggest that that purple kangaroo in The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (the Barry/Richard Jones version) was a lesbian, are you?
