All the same: Whatever the minor shortcomings, though, this is the 20th-century's greatest composer conducting all his own works. 20th century's greatest composer, well, maybe, although not for me. All right then, Ollie, who for you is -- the shining beacon, the towering figure -- the Graupner, if you will, of the twentieth century?

John Williams surely... Never, it's Karl Jenkins. Ollie had to ensure he cleared all the Adiemus CDs from his desk before taking that picture to show us all. It was probably during a comparably panicked hideaway of such things that the now-infamous CD went missing.

All right then, Ollie, who for you is -- the shining beacon, the towering figure -- the Graupner, if you will, of the twentieth century? Hm. Don't know who the Graupner of the 20th century would be. They would have to be unbelievably industrious, of not entirely unimpeachable technique, mostly pleasant but not exactly brilliant music, with patches of gawkiness but with more than occasional flashes that make me think hang on, that's quite amazing and nothing else I know does that in quite the same way. Anyone else have any ideas there? But oh dear, these 'greatest composer' questions. If I had to name one it would probably be Messiaen...

It's Stravinsky, and you're all big wet girls' blouses if you think otherwise. (Oh-oh, I'm going a bit TOP, aren't I? )

OK Bryn, you try an internet search for wet blouses and see what you... er, actually, perhaps don't.

Well, this isn''t too bad. But now I'm off thinking 'boots'. Big wet girls' boots, anyone? Now spinning: something by ME. Ooh, that bit was good! Perhaps tomorrow will be a better creative day than today...
