Seems to be OK - the cognac isn't even stinging. No one here to kiss I'm afraid. Just an Australian oboist who lives in Malmö staying a couple of nights while he has a couple of lessons and buys an oboe. He's not really my type either.

Ollie, there are transparent "plasters" that you can buy to stick over cold sores. Would one of those just stop your lip bleeding through the gig? Presumably it would be flexible enough for you to play normally - why don't you try one in rehearsal?

We pass this way but once. This is not a rehearsal!

I think it's time for the cognac now.
Bit of alcohol'd probably do it good; keep it clean and dry it up : )

Certainly a thought. Never had either a cold sore problem or a reed-tears-bit-of-lip-away-with-it problem before. I think I'll see how the general rehearsal goes and maybe give that a go if the reed looks a funny colour afterwards... increpatio - yes, and even if it doesn't help one doesn't mind as much!

Ollie, I am out myself this evening playing too... though not 'quite' such heady heights ( !!! ).... I do hope your lip survived. x

As I just posted on the waffle thread - it came through nicely, a bit of blood at the general rehearsal but felt fine in the concert. Phew. And now I can take a couple of days off. Thanks for your concern...

We all shoud go to success room and celebrate ollie's concert. I think to play on a bad lip is as bad as to dance on a bad leg (may be worse).

Congratulation ollie. This picture teaches something about reeds, but it is above my head I am afraid. It looks like the reed is going in space.

Working for a living is so vulgar, does anyone know of a bored rich lady with an interest in parallelograms ?
