Difficult to say which is best from Blogger, Facebook or even a forum like this one - depends what you want to do.

Blogger is good for a small number of people since you can only make a post if you're an administrator, anyone else can only add comments - but it's easy to add someone as admin. You can make it completely private so it doesn't appear on Google. You can upload pretty high quality photos directly to it and you automatically get thumbnail links to the big version. My niece has a blog which she's used to send photos home, together with a diary of what she's up to when she's been off to Oz for weeks on end. It's more like a ready made but customisable diary-cum-web site.

I don't know much about Facebook, I'm only a member of one group, the local cricket club I support. When they won a cup in August I was able to upload fairly low quality copies of all the photos I'd taken very simply so they were available for people to see a couple of hours after the game.

And of course forums like this one are free too and could be used by just a few people if you want to organise your chat a bit more. But, of course, you can't upload photos. They can also be made private.

What really upsets me about Yahoo! is the way that the management have ignored pleas to keep the existing format and just work the bugs out. Quite a few people have worked at building interesting sites there and now it looks as if it is all to be put through the corporate wringer.

The saga of Mort and the wheelie bin continues ....... Angry

I thought that finally, Haringey and I had achieved an understanding when they agreed to deliver a replacement bin "in mid-October". Hooray. Even if I have bin (sorry  Embarrassed) without one since June. Since we are now knocking on the door of November and it still hasn`t appeared I gave them a call this morning. The conversation was, roughly, as follows

Me:   You told me that a wheelie bin would be delivered to me in mid-October. It is nearly November now and I have not received one.

Them:   Oh. We were waiting for you to reply to say if you wanted a bigger bin to replace the two you had.

Baffled silence from Mort.

Me:    I have never had two bins. (suppressed sigh of irritation)

Them:   Oh. But our bin monitors say you had two bins when they inspected in August.

Me:    I didn`t even have one bin then. I didn`t even know you could have a larger bin .

Them:  Oh sorry. So do you want a larger bin?

Me:  NO!  I just want a bin to replace the missing one!

If I am very, very lucky I may get one this week. Or next week. I won`t hold my breath though. Angry Angry Angry

Trouble is about Facebook, it could lead to identity fraud.

Is there actually any evidence of that happening?

Brighton and Hove Council keep writing to me asking whether I still need help with my wheelie bin on account of my disability.  I keep ringing back to tell them that (1) I don't have a disability and (2) even if I did I have never received any assistance anyway.   This is duly noted until the next letter arrives ..... A related rant.
Over the last 9 months or so, I have received multiple gas bills from British Gas, addressed simply to 'The Occupier', demanding payment on two separate and non-existent accounts. Anyone who's been through this will know that each letter of this kind gets successively more threatening, printed in RED, setting a date when they'll come round, accompanied by the police, and shut off your supply, issue a summons, take you to jail and call you rude names.

So, what did at least four phone calls about all this achieve? Nada. First, I was assured that the phoney accounts would be closed down (my own 'real' one is fine, paid up, no problem.) Then, I was told I'd just have to live with these threatening notices and to ignore them, because they could NOT be closed!

Thankfully, I'm a still-young-at-heart and relatively sane man. I dread to think how this might affect elderly folks even less in charge of their marbles than I am.  Angry

I don't think I'll be able to be grumpy if I think of the phrase "martle's in charge of his marbles"

"martle's in charge of his marbles"
Isn't that a line from Peter Grimes? Undecided

mart, I keep catching sight of your new (dicey) avatar out of the corner of my eye and seeing it as a pair of green buttocks...

It reminds me of Stephen Fry in Wordsworthian mood:

"Out wandering in the meadows one day I picked a buttercup.

Why do people leave their buttocks lying around in meadows?"

Had a fairly innocuous cold at the end of last week which seemed to be going on Sunday but now it's returned even worse and I'm all bunged up.  Sad

Malcolm: Oh mum, I can't take my exam blocked up like this.
Mum: Here, Malcolm, take some of this.
Malcolm: Vick’s Sinex Nasal Spray? I'll give it a try.
Later that day:
Malcolm: Mum, I'm home.
Mum: How did the exam go?
Malcolm (lifting pot lid): Oh that smells good, Mum.
Mum: Malcolm? Malcolm!

Actually it's not me but my vehicle which has an exam today ie MOT - and the tax runs out tomorrow. Grump grump  Sad
