I'm not happy - I had two "funny turns" today, of faintness/vertigo. The first was mid-morning, luckily in the office and I was sitting down, the second was lunchtime when I was outside the supermarket. Out of the blue everything swam round and my legs buckled. Luckily there is a wooden rail attached to the wall of the trolley bay which I instinctively grabbed, otherwise I would have been flat on the floor. Felt awful trembly and dizzy and didn't trust my legs to walk me back to the office. One of the supermarket girls walked me back. I was then given sweet tea and chocolate biscuits. Never had anything like that before, very frightening. Felt distinctly wobbly all afternoon so left work early

Anna, (I'm sure you've decided to) you need to go to your GP tomorrow (or go to a walk-in-centre if you have one) and get a few things checked. Next time you get get giddy you might fall and bang your head on something.
Take a resttonight at least.
Best regards
John W

Anna, John's right. It's not just the risk of falling, it's that those symptoms can mean very serious things, brain conditions etc. Highly unlikely of course, but the earlier you rule them out the better.

Cheers John All I intend to do tonight is have an early meal (just waiting for oven to warm up) then it's couch potato time for me and early bed. Of course I never got my shopping so it's improvisation time Chez moi! I work across the road from the surgey and as long as you phone first thing in the morning there's no problem in getting an appointment but before today this has never happened to me. Could have been low blood sugar or something simple like that. But worry not, I have a large supply of chocolate to hand. Bestio

Marty, Marty, Marty! "Brain conditions" Excuse me, are you implying that I possess a BRAIN? Goodness, that's a first for anyone to suggest that

The following statement has been received from Messrs. Su, Grabbitt and Runn, the esteemed firm of Notaries Public and Solicitors who represent Ms. Antheil. It reads thus:- "The aforementioned Ms. Antheil, being of sound mind but possibly of low blood sugar levels, wishes it to be made public that she has never knowingly called Syd James by the name of Jo Jo." All further enquiries into the aforesaid life style of the aforementioned Ms. Antheil can be conducted via Max Clifford or Hello Magazine.

.......I was accosted by trick 'n' treaters .......... It is an American institution and not British. Not true Don. Kids/wains/bairns in Scotland have always done this. Up there we call it guising. The word is derived from the French verb guiser one of many French words that entered the Scots dialect, probably in the 16thC or before. I recall dressing up every Halloween, and you had to perform in order to receive a reward which was usually money not sweets. Mums and Dads did some guising too I recall, and I remember one time singing Cliff Richard's Bachelor Boy which must have been over 40 years a go John W

OK , just to change the subject and talk about me 9 days ago I stubbed my foot on a doorframe. It hurt, it really hurt. It swelled up and went black. I thought, never mind these things go away in a few days.... it didn't. So today I went to have an xray, and I have broken it. BUT , of course , they don't do anything for little toes! At least I can say, 'I have broken my toe' now instead of 'I have stubbed my toe' !! Moan , whine, grump !! A

Oh bugger, A! You have my unreserved sympathy, having busted one earlier this year. Damn painful Did they strap it to another toe so that it will heal in the right position?

That must be nasty . I'm grumpy because I woke up grumpy, went to the dentist for a check-up, which was fine, got home and spilt a damson and blackberry smoothie in the middle of the hall carpet. I can't tell yet whether I've got it out or not. The carpet is dark blue, so it may not be too bad. I learnt many years ago that pale floors are Pretty but Impractical.

Sort of, but while he was strapping it he said things like 'This isn't easy when it's the little one' which didn't reassure me much !!!! Yes, it is pretty painful! A

Well, there were some queer folks in't Street - some 'ad plastic ducks stuck on't wall, others 'ad red flowery wallpapers, and some 'ad dark mauve curtains. But I'd say this: any folks who go and 'ave dark blue carpets deserve to 'ave damson and blackberry smoothies spilt right through 'em!
