You're right, Richard.

Much sympathy to Mort about insomnia. I'm a fellow sufferer (though not last night) so I know how miserable it is. I hope you feel vaguely human for the rest of the day.

Even now, Blackpool is the most common destination for Scottish holiday makers, and very much more than once I've travelled South on a train packed to overflowing with holiday makers, many of whom will have been on the juice since first thing in the morning. To be avoided at all costs. One of the banks in the area is still the clearing bank for Scottish currency south of the border, Mills, which means that many banks further south can't be bothered with the hassle of dealing with it. Has anyone seen the Northern Bank (of Ireland) plastic notes? I'm aware that Oz has produced them for some while, but they're the only ones I've seen around here - I keep one in my wallet.
They have Scottish weekend over in Blackpool - several times during the season and "Scottish Fortnight". It's like World War 3. Perpetual sirens. A lot of them don't think they've had a night out unless they've had a scrap. You would not believe the amount of alcohol consumed at those times! But as you say, they arrive fully tanked-up, keep it topped up while they're there and go home in the same condition. It's been a tradition for many many years.

Likewise - I just couldn't get to sleep last night and had to get up early this morning so i feel distinctly odd today.

Thanks Mary. I lurched off to bed and my brain eventually decided to shut up round about 5.30, so I managed a few hours sleep. I could probably now successfully audition for a part in I wouldn't need the makeup Jonathan, sorry to hear that the insomnia hobgoblins have been prodding you as well.

Sadly, Mills. I'd well believe the amount of alcohol consumed. And of course "Scottish Fortnight" isn't just a single fortnight, because (as I've mentioned before) every Scottish city and its surrounding parts has different bank holidays and holiday fortnights. These were set up in times past when the big cities were heavily industrialised, in order to stagger the effects of such mass-migrations, but they pertain to this day, so there's "Edinburgh Fortnight", "Glasgow Fortnight" etc., but all staggered (just like the gait of rather too many of the holiday makers).

I have this knockout valerian tea lurking at home which I am going to try tonight if it happens again. Ropey Tchaik 4 segue Mozart Requiem on TTN didnt help-wide awakey stuff especially with C Von D progressively speeding up to catch last orders. (The last time I saw him conduct-ace job on Ligeti etc- I swear he was busking on Baritone sax 10 mins after the gig outside Embankment stn.)Geezer at Elephant and Castle does espresso shot in latte which has the reverse effect. Sorry to hear you guys are going through this too. Excuse jumpy nature of this post, I am preparing to take on utility co on behalf of client with degrees of awakeness and nadgers. Have a good day notwithstanding yours, Johnatahan et al, and I'll see you in a bit hopefully with dongle revived.

Nettle tea's worth trying, too, folks: especially if you can get your hands on real leaf rather than the tea-bags. It really knocks me out. Back to Boris and London's buses.

ARRGHHHHHHH!! Identity theft strikes again I had a letter today from a debt collection agency telling me that I owe two banks loot. Except I don't. This agency has contacted me before, although they denied this, about money owing (that wasn't). I have just gone through the 'I have a crime report number' routine but the Manager didn't want to know. It is my word against theirs - 'If you will not arrange payment of the debt then I will escalate this matter'. Aside from the fact that it isn't my bluddy debt, this shows that even if you have a 'good' credit rating (it only covers the last 6 years) the banks/collection agencies will still chase you even after 20 years. One of the debts is £75 with a bank I never had an account with! Well, not knowingly. A thousand curses upon the buglers who used my name End of rant.
