And I rather enjoy decoding his posts. A poem every one.

I think you'll find, bbm, that marbleflugel has a keyboard problem with 'i' and 'k', so substitutes 'y' and 'c' respectively...
Lucky it's only 'i' and 'k' that don't appear to be working! He could end up as martlefroger one day.

Can't Pay ? Won't Pay !
Time for a nationwide Dario Fo campaign anyone ?
Dario Fo?? Do tell, Bobby ... Sadly nothing much to tell tinners, it was just a rather forlorn suggestion for an initiative not to pay the exhorbitant energy price hikes, using the title of Mr Fo's play.

Ah, I see. He was only a name to me till recently, then I read a couple of his plays and I just wondered what you were alluding to - I hadn't realised that was a title of another one of them!

Which suggests marbleflugel won't spend 12 quid on a new keyboard?

Well, I normally use a laptop with an extra keyboard attached (although not at the moment since I couldn't have been bothered schlepping it to Oz) so new keyboards and laptops aren't mutually exclusive...

The letters printed on my laptop keyboard are starting to rub off. Good thing I usually touch-type. The odd thing is, the wear seems to bear no relation to which are the most commonly used letters. The 'e' and 't' are fine. The first one to start to go was 'c'. Now the 'n' is gone, the 'l' and 'm' mostly gone, the 'd' beginning to go...

I normally use a laptop with an extra keyboard attached Now why would that be? The keys on a 'real' keyboard are more comfortable for my fingers, there's a keypad (handy for notation software), and I can put the display where I don't have to look down to see it (or for that matter type with my hands at chin level). (On top of my CD player in fact. With a couple of old Städteverbindungen books strategically placed both to keep the two appliances separate and just for extra height.)

I've seen the same problem at some retail establishments where keyboards are used. A very accurate light application of varnish before the symbol vanishes altogether is a useful ruse, or you may be able to replace the tops of the keys, with some from a similar, but discarded, keyboard from a tip or skip. (It's best to do this one at a time or with reference to a second keyboard: I have known one case where an employee went at it hammer and tongs and pulled off half the tops thinking he knew where the replacements went, happily positioning them where he thought they ought to be, apparently without telling anybody else or checking: needless to say it created havoc before the reason was identified.)

Goodness. Spooky. It's 'n', 'm' 'l' in my case too with the 'h' and 'o' beginnining to look a little tired and distressed. Is there any obvious remedy that I'm missing out on? Do they sell little sticky letters somewhere? Tippex doesn't seem to be tough enough. Is a furtive trip in drag to the Boots nail varnish counter likely to be worth the embarrassment? Do they do white anyway? [Crossed with Ron's post. There's some useful hints. Thank you! A tour of the local skips is called for (but possibly not in drag) before the nail varnish option, I think. Sounds as if there might be a premium on 'nml's though.]

I have Russian letters next to the Latin letters. I bought them in computer store and put them on next to the Latin letters. May be it is possible to buy Latin letters and tape them on. Some of my Russian letters are impossible to see after two years.
