I may even contact Watchdog.
Yes; for all that I find Ms Robinson irritating, I'm convinced that merely mentioning the name of that TV programme makes people sit up and take notice (by contrast, mention Radio 4's You and Yours and I'm sure you can hear the whole office giggling over the phone! "Telephones. Innocent communication devices or potentially lethal swallowing hazards for 2 year olds? You tell us your harrowing stories..."

A few days ago, a sales call bothered us in the evening. My ankle was giving me gyp and I wasn't my normal polite self on the phone.

One of the new radiators is leaking! And my plumber charged me a fortune to install them. (Still, I'm not using that cheaper plumber again who twice came close to destroying my old house - first by nearly blowing it up, then by nearly burning it down...)

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Grrrr.
Is anyone else here having problems with Firefox's latest unavoidable update? Every time I enter a password it "quits unexpectedly." Every time I manage to look at things not requiring passwords and then quit the program myself, it "quits unexpectedly." And just now I was reading this board, and it "quit unexpectedly." I can't check my email, can't check facebook, can't do anything!
I'm using Safari to do those things so I'm not completely stuffed. But I don't like Safari much, and it doesn't have all my bookmarks in place. Grump grump grump.

No problems with the latest update, but an update a little while back erased all my stored passwords. Upshot of which was that for example my Deutsche Bahn online account is now locked, irretrievably it would seem. And I book quite a lot of train tickets.

I am just going to have a rant on here before I go and eat.
I do not read the red-tops, I see a headline which says Preston has dumped Chantelle. I shrug and pass on by. Who are these people?
BUT this has really REALLY annoyed me. Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross have left abusive messages on Andrew Sachs' (Manuel in Fawlty Towers) ansaphone and broadcast them on the BBC 2 about R. Brand having sex with his grand daughter.
Brand (who I quite like in his persona of a Victorian brothel keeper who samples the goods before they go on public display) has apologised, whilst Ross (who is a foul mouthed gobshite) has not.
I feel I am turning into Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells or even Llandrindod Wells!
Or just plain Grumpy!

Unlike you, I think Russell Brand is a foul-mouthed gobshite as well as Ross. I've never been able to stand either of the talentless wastes of space. I could also never understand the attraction to women of either of them! I wouldn't be with either one if they were the last males on this planet. Awful.

I think Russell Brand is a foul-mouthed gobshite as well as Ross. Well, I can be pretty foul-mouthed myself on occasion, but otherwise yes, Milly, I agree, they're both awful. And obscenely overpaid.

For my part, the BBC would be well advised to take the opportunity of dumping Ross without compensation on the grounds of bringing the Corporation into disrepute. As to Brand, he would be no great loss to any broadcaster, surely?

Mills, I think R. Brand has his moments. Moments. Few. But Andrew Sachs is 78. The pair of "Gobshites" should be sacked for harrassing a grand-dad publicly and being paid thousands by the BBC

Hmm, this rather smacks to me of two massively over-mighty egos who now believe their own publicity and think themselves to be untouchable.

And obscenely overpaid.
Overpaid, moreover, with our licence money. Nice to know that the BBC seems to think it has nothing better to spend it on than the prep-school japes of a couple of overgrown adolescents.

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)
