I believe it would be Emilio Pomarico, an excellent conductor from all the work of his I've seen, and, on the other hand, composer of one of the most excruciatingly tedious string quartets I've ever heard.

The gig started with Cosmic Pulses. Now I think this is rather special although a colleague did grump that he'd heard quite a lot of that sort of thing.

Did he/she intimate where and when this might have been? because I must say I haven't heard anything I would regard as even vaguely similar to it.

No, Em Po is the OTHER E.P., I think.

More, many more, very interesting concerts with programmes not based on 'war-horses' are appearing in the schedule - not only is there a 'total immersion' day in January, but the South Bank festival during November looks excellent. Too bad I will probably not be able to make any of these, and will have to rely on what is broadcast on the radio.

I listened to a recording of Cosmic Pulses last night - my wife got back in the middle of it and said, 'this is really good, very dramatic, much better than that squeaky stuff you normally listen to ... '

I must hear this piece!  Cheesy

EmPo (who is indeed an excellent conductor and I think I've seen him from closer than you have) conducted in Berlin, EnPo (who impresses me more and more in that department and refused to be intimidated by the interpretation of his illustrious predecessor) in Budapest.

Oh. No he didn't say where it might have been and I was tempted to defer to his greater experience. (Actually I was tempted to walk away and indeed I did, politely of course, since I didn't want his greater experience interfering with my enjoyment.)

Have you (richard or Tantris or anyone) heard it in its full spatialised glory?

As I said, I'm very much looking forward to Klang. It's going to be a bit of an uphill battle though since it seems to be difficult for my colleagues or even my better half to listen to with an open mind.

Does the R*y*l A*be*t H*ll count as full spatialised glory? If so I can confirm that Richard has as we flashed headlights briefly as we were respectively entering/leaving the Gents.

Not yet, unfortunately. I'm relying on the recording from the Proms broadcast at the moment, and hoping that some Stockhausen performances, within striking distance of Basel, will emerge soon. There is an airport here, so I can't see any impediment to the Helikopter-Quartett being scheduled. That would have livened up the Euro 2008 football tournament.

I've just been admiring these shots of Michaels Reise in Dresden. Featuring one O. Sudden towards the end if I'm not mistaken.

Shocked indeed! Astonishing - particularly the lip control, forgetting for the moment all the 3D spinning around while playing... Tongue

Sorry if this has been posted before and I have missed it, but......

Tonight and Tomorrow at Wilton's Music Hall, 20 musicians will interpret 'From The Seven Days'.

Performers include...

this forum's very own Matthew Lee Knowles, who according to today's Metro has been living in isolation without food for the last 4 days in order to tap into the 'intuition' noted in KS's texts.

the Lituanian Laptop Quartet, Twentytwentyone (I mis-read that the first time round)

a Stroh violinist, Aleks Kolkowski

For a number of reasons including Eva's hair and my glasses I suspect that these photos are actually from the Vienna performances... but it's the same production.

There are some Dresden photos here though.

I'm happy to read of jodru's enthusiasm for the production but to be fair it's not just a musikFabrik production: the full credit is "eine Produktion der Wiener Taschenoper in Zusammenarbeit mit den Wiener Festwochen, koproduziert von KölnMusik, musikFabrik und dem Europäischen Zentrum der Künste Hellerau". And for the look of it all one must certainly mention La fura dels baus: Carlus Padrissa (director), Valentina Carrasco (assistant director), Roland Olbeter (scene, including the crane), Frank Aleu (video).

Performances in Paris on December 12 and 13.

That concludes this commercial break. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
