Pal of mine just bought complete Mahler Symphonies conducted by Gary Bertini, inc the Song of the Earth. When he's worked his way through it, hopefully I'll have a bash.

Not come across much by Bertini, and certainly never his Mahler. Anyone else any experience, thoughts?

Hi Chichi. Missed this one! I find it an excellent box and don't regret the minuscule investment. The Köln RSO were doing some wonderful things in those days... not actually that long ago but nowadays, well, the phrase 'pale shadows of their former selves' has been known to spring to mind.

In fact the Song of the Earth is a good place to start. I remember being very pleased by the 5th as well.
