My obviously too-twisted mind seems always to think Spirit at Battlefields whenever I see this thread title; never mind - I daresay that this is curable...

Mmm Alistair - I never thought of it that way, even when I was at the live concert itself. But perhaps you have a point there somewhere?

What a load of the most appallingly pretentious rubbish.

About as much to do with real, crafted, composed, decent, tuneful, creative, honest, uplifting MUSIC as an earwig.

The Emperor suspected they were right. But he dared not stop and so on he walked, more proudly than ever. And his courtiers behind him held high the train... that wasn't there at all.

I do hope not - and none was intended, certainly...

Might this not be sailing uncomfortably close to forum rule breach territory?...

Sailing close no not at all. Because we are in entire agreement with what the good Mr. Sagt says. Silly titles for works are invariably a "dead giveaway" and a reliable indication that the composer of said works could not possibly be a serious person.

So the word "appalling" is entirely accurate.
The word "pretentious" is also very clearly accurate.
The word "rubbish" (meaning worthless items which one rejects and discards) is absolutely accurate.
And we have never knowingly encountered an earwig but here too trust the accuracy of the judgement expressed in his final sentence by Mr. Sagt. The only astonishing thing is that more Members do not see it and say so.

I am totally unconcerned with The Doctor's acceptance of Member Sagt's advice - indeed I should have expected no less from both of them.

The only thing that concerns me is that The Doctor claims never to have encountered an earwig! How can this be, and where has he been spending his life?

As I said on the thread about the H&N broadcast, having enjoyed the first Barrett piece, I got bored with the second and turned it off, so I can agree to a very limited extent with the critics of the music.

However SS's implication that the music isn't "real, crafted, composed, decent, tuneful, creative, honest, uplifting MUSIC" is obviously stretching things a bit. For one thing, I doubt it would ever claim to be tuneful!

It is perhaps unnecessary to point out that one of our critics is a knowledgable and provocative poster who never ceases to surprise and entertain, whereas the other is a mental midget pretending to be a courteous conservative.

I bet I know which of you has actually listened to a work by the highly esteemed Richard.

I have listened to a work by the highly esteemed Richard, I went to the concert. I am well known I think for not liking modern music which has no tune, so I am afraid it didn't do much for me... sorry Richard.
