Probably not. This newly-publishedbook entitled The San Francisco Tape Music Center (complete with DVD) should help:

Speaking of minimalism...have been [over] indulging in The Necks, the piano trio out of Sydney. Just as listenable as Steve Reich, Terry Riley - and especially - LaMonte Young's Well Tuned Piano.

That program looks very interesting. It says that Reich will talk about his relation with G d.

The topic of his new work is difficult. How does one deal with so much hate? Artists usually begin the dialogue.
May be this circle of hate can be stopped some how. I am curious to hear what is Reich view on the matter.

It was pointed out to me lately that when Steve Reich first came on the, er .. scene, he was referred to as "Steve Reich" (as in the Third Reich)
WHEREAS now he is generally referred to as "Steve Reich" (as in Reich Crispies).

... so there you go.

He seems to have done it twice. He wrote the music for the film Oh dem watermelons in 1965. At one point in the film the credits are read out - RISHE it was then. But a few years later I remember him introducing himself as REICH (as in 3rd). Round about the time of The desert music it had changed back.
