I noticed Shostakovich piano trio and Janacek piano sonata today and decided to listen.

Performance of Shostakovich was very good by Florestan trio.
I never heard about Judith Weir. It is difficult to say something about her music on the first listening, but it did not touch me much. I though the piece sounded like an exercise on specific topic (fast bow strokes on the same note). May be I don't understand something and too hard on the composer.

Did anybody hear that "show"?
The program is unusual today. I liked Janacek Piano Sonata very much.

There is Roslavets: Symphony for Chamber Orchestra later.

Hi T-P - ws the Shostakovitch piano trio no 2 op 57 - this is one of my most favourite of his chamber works - extremely dark and intense and heartfelt - hope you enjoyed as well as rest of programme

Hi offbeat,
This was op. 67 trio. It was emotional (like most of Schostakovich).
Janacek sonata was melodious and influenced by Czeck music.

After that I decided it is time for me to practice and I did not listen to the end of the show.

Beaux Arts Trio is well known and a good trio. It is a good CD.

I wish I could play that trio, but noone to play it with.
