This week it is Monteverdi.
A useful programme. I love Monteverdi's music. I knew nothing of his madrigals. Did anyone is enjoying the series?

I only caught the first programme so far, but I thought the opening Toccata from Orfeo was a magnificent sound on the period instruments including the natural trumpets.

It come from here:
L'Orfeo - Toccata
VIRGIN CLASSICS 5456422
CD1 T1
Le Concert d'Astree
Emmanuelle Haim, director

Very impressive.

I must Listen Again to the next instalments.

...actually, thinking about this, where should CotW be on these boards? it isn't strictly part of Afternoon on 3, is it? Is it 'popular' or 'specialist' programming?

Martin, t-p,

Well I think any programme without it's own Topic/Section is welcome to make it's own Topic/Thread on the 'Classical Music on Radio 3' section (which we carried over from CMoR3/R3MB).

I'm sure we've had CotW threads already here..... must find them  Cheesy

They make composers different every week. I wrote something about Wagner. May be this thread could be closed. I thought it was a good idea to have one thread for all different composers. I don't know what to do now.

T-p

Don't worry about posting anything in the "wrong" place, nobody minds. The worst thing that can happen is that not enough people notice the thread. George started a very interesting thread called "How do you listen" but not many people seem to have found that yet.

By the way, have enjoyed the parts of the Monteverdi programmes I have caught this week.

t-p,

The thread is good. If you want to, you can go to the first message, click 'modify' and add Monteverdi's name to the title
