For a trial period, and starting this morning, it has been decided that we should hold consultations concerning the shutting down of the Grumpy Old Rant Room thread. Its very popularity has made us increasingly aware that it has been nurturing a somewhat negative attitude among our members, and we have thus decided to see whether banning its use might encourage our community to take on a generally more optimistic frame of mind.

Your opinions upon this matter would be welcomed.

Many thanks,

The Moderation Team.

Thanks to certain sporting members for allowing their contributions to this thread to be removed this morning. Contributors may be relieved to know that on further deliberation, grumpiness will be allowed to stalk the boards for a while longer....

And how many people didn't look at the date when they read this message?

Only five posters out of over sixty readers commented on its date, Ian.

I think it's courageous and noble of inko to admit it.

(But Mort, did you really think such a decision would be made without consulting all the Mods?) Roll Eyes

Ron, I always set aside Tuesday mornings as my 'Blonde' mornings. Today was a particularly good example. As was yours. NO! ARGGHHH! I don't mean of you being blonde, more carrying out a jolly good jape.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Now, I could well have fallen for that one! I managed to convince one or two in my class that the date really was Tuesday 32nd March, on account of it being a leap year, and that April would finish a day early on the 29th! We did enjoy watching the BBC's spoof on flying penguins, though.  Cheesy

On a semi-serious note, on the Grumpy Old Rant thread, I do think it's worth remembering Tommo's original post and the request he made:

I'd like to request one thing though....

If you sound off, please try to end your post on a positive note.

Worth trying?
